2011 Bologna Motor Show Preview: 2012 Fiat 500 Nation

Article by Christian Andrei, on November 23, 2011

In celebration of the Fiat 500's launch in America, the company will unveil the 500 Nation at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy. But already, this special edition 500 isn’t expected to be all that successful. It’s such a pity too since the U.S. sales of the Fiat 500 have failed to hit targets. This special edition car has "Stars and Stripes" graphics on its door mirrors and it is equipped with a set of special 16-inch wheels.

It will be available as a either a cabrio version (which comes in tri-coat white) or a hatchback (which comes in America Blue). The Fiat 500 Nation edition, which will have a limited run of 500 units of each body type, will arrive this February. The hatchback is priced from EUR14,500. Meanwhile, the cabrio has a starting price of EUR18,000.

Fiat 500 tries to be all inclusive to enable it to meet the demands of all potential customers, from those who want minimal trims to those who want to have their own personal touches.

The idea was to create a vehicle that could easily fit the needs of the individual customer, and Fiat did a better job at it than any of their competitors. You have plug in electronic technologies in the passenger cabin, including the second generation Blue&Me and an iPod socket and charger. Magnetti Marelli also worked with Fiat to come up with a portable navigator that is able to fit into the dashboard and easily connect to other functions.

The features are not the only ones that are customized in the new Fiat 500. You can also experience the same flexibility in the offered services and payment schemes. For instance, you can work with Fiat Group Automobiles Financial Services and get their '500 Cents' and '50to500' formulas, where you can get any Fiat 500, customize it and just pay 5 euros a day, with no down payment or using easy payment schemes.

As an incentive for taking out these loans, you also get a 5-year/500,000 km manufacturer's warranty, as well as other services including round-the-clock roadside assistance and getting your car picked up for its periodic maintenance. You will even be reimbursed for your taxi fares.

Fiat 500 aims to be the car for everyone. For the company, the Fiat 500 is the start of a new chapter and defines the role of the brand in tomorrow’s marketplace and in society in general. It is the vehicle that promotes conscious consumption, quality, emotions, and uniqueness.

Press Release

Fiat 500 Nation Limited Edition

With just 500 numbered units made in the saloon version and 500 in the convertible version, the new Fiat 500 Nation Limited Edition is the tribute that the brand dedicates to the great countries where the car is sold.

The first edition pays homage to the United States, celebrating the arrival of the 500 in North America and the beginning of collaboration with the American pop singer Jennifer Lopez. Besides, a cool icon of Italian style but with a marked pop soul, the Fiat 500 continues to capture attention also across the ocean both for having won over the US audience and having renewed the product placement and communications fields by making an appearance paired up with Jennifer Lopez. In fact, for the new videoclip of the "Papi" track taken from the "Love?" album (Island Def Jam), the multitalented artist wanted to drive a Fiat 500. A 30- and 60-second commercial - nothing short of a trailer of the music clip- was born after this marriage between artist and car.

In the Saloon version, the 500 Nation America Limited Edition is offered in the exclusive metallic shade America Blue and it is distinguished by mirror fairings with "Stars & Stripes" graphics, stickers, dedicated beltline and 16" alloy wheels with red cap edge. American inspiration and iconography are also found in the interiors with red/ivory seats and contrasting white dashboard.

The white three-layer paint and "Stars & Stripes" mirror fairings are combined with the red top and the graphics in the colours of the American flag in the beltline in the convertible version. In this case the elegant 16" alloy wheels are finished with a blue rim edge.

The 500 Nation is equipped as standard with manual air conditioning and is enriched with the kit complete with exterior chrome-plating in both saloon and convertible versions. Lastly, a badge on the pillar bearing the serial number of this limited edition makes this car unique.

The new 500 Nation America Limited Edition can be ordered starting from late February 2012 at the approximate price of Euro 14,500 for the saloon version and Euro 18,000 for the convertible.
