2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec priced at $26,750

Article by Christian Andrei, on September 15, 2010

Hyundai announced today that the 2011 Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec will be priced at $26,750 (excluding $800 freight). The R-Spec is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 model found in the Genesis Coupe lineup capable to deliver 306 hp and mated to a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission (the model is available only with a manual transmission).

For those who don’t know, the R-Spec takes the core performance equipment from the 3.8 Track model and eliminates non-essential equipment such as metalgrain accents, automatic headlights, cruise control and chrome interior accents, sunroof and rear spoiler.

According to Hyundai, this helps in reducing the weight by 68 pounds and price by $4,000. The 2011 Genesis Coupe R-Spec comes with track-tuned suspension, 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels with performance summer tires, Brembo braking system, Torsen limited-slip differential and R-Spec badging.

Also, the car will be available in just four exterior colors: Karussell White, Bathurst Black, Interlagos Yellow and Tsukuba Red. Regarding the safety systems, the car comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist as well as with 6 airbags: Advanced dual front airbags with Occupant Classification System (OCS), front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.

At a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $26,750, the 3.8 Genesis Coupe R-Spec is simply the most affordable model in the lineup powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine. The engine is mated to a manual transmission.

Around $4,000 had been shaved off from the price, and was achieved by getting rid of a number of elements like a sunroof, rear spoiler and automatic headlights. Also eliminated were chrome interior accents, cruise control and metal-grain accents.

However, the 3.8 Genesis Coupe R-Spec is a welcome to tuners as it features a set of front strut camber adjustment bolts, which should be installed at the dealer installation. These bolts could help improve the 3.8 Genesis Coupe R-Spec's initial turn-in as well as handling response.

3.8 Genesis Coupe R-Spec can be availed in any of the four available exterior colors – all of which are usually used by international racing teams. These colors are Bathurst Black, Interlagos Yellow, Karussell White and Tsukuba Red.

Customers could choose from the six models of the Genesis Coupe, each featuring different elements specs. Priced the same as the 3.8 Genesis Coupe R-Spec, Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium features as standard Navigation with Fully Automatic Temperature Control as well as 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels wrapped in performance summer tires. Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium also comes with Brembo braking system, track-tuned suspension, Torsen limited-slip differential and R-Spec badging.

HYUNDAI ANNOUNCES 2011 GENESIS COUPE R-SPEC PRICING

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec priced at $26,750 will arrive at dealerships across the country this fall. R-Spec takes the core performance equipment from the 3.8 Track model and eliminates non-essential convenience equipment to reduce its weight by 68 pounds and price by $4,000. The 3.8 R-Spec allows enthusiasts to use that $4,000 to tune their own car to their desired specifications.

The 3.8 R-Spec is now the most affordable 3.8-liter V6 model in the Genesis Coupe lineup. R-Spec performance features include track-tuned suspension, 19-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels with performance summer tires, Brembo® braking system, Torsen® limited-slip differential and R-Spec badging. To achieve the $4,000 savings R-Spec 3.8 eliminates metalgrain accents, automatic headlights, cruise control and chrome interior accents. Shoppers will not find a sunroof or rear spoiler on an R-Spec. In a special nod to tuners, R-Spec will also receive a set of front strut camber adjustment bolts (dealer installation required) to further enhance initial turn-in and handling response. Appropriately, the 3.8 R-Spec will be available in four exterior colors most common among international racing teams: Karussell White, Bathurst Black, Interlagos Yellow and Tsukuba Red. R-Spec comes with manual transmission only.
The Genesis Coupe lineup has also been simplified to six well-differentiated models. Navigation with Fully Automatic Temperature Control is now standard on Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium.
