The Infiniti EX30d is considered as key to the second phase of the carmaker's product offensive in Europe and to its growth plans. The first phase commenced when Infiniti launched in Europe in Paris in 2008, marked by the introduction of its petrol-engine range.
This phase was also marked by Infiniti's effort to expand the brand and its dealerships in Europe. This phase resulted to 35 Infiniti Centres across 16 European countries as of July 2010. Since then, EX37s have accounted for around a fifth of Infiniti's sales in Europe. Infiniti's EX owners in Europe are typically younger than the segment average at 51.
Most EX owners are business owners and executives and came from one-child families. According to Infiniti's research, around 85 percent of these owners see the EX37 as an upgrade over their previous vehicles. Interestingly, around 75 percent of them previously owned another premium brands, like BMW.
Likewise, over 50 percent of EX buyers in Europe were first-time SUV owners, with a good number downsizing from larger models. This confirms the appeal of EX's sporty design and its dimensions. To compare, the height of the EX is somewhere between the existing BMW X3 and the 3-series Coupé.
Its width, meanwhile, is comparable with that of the Coupé. EX's owners in Europe have marked design, interior, engine flexibility and standard equipment as the compact SUV's main strengths. The EX came with features like Around View Monitor, Intelligent Cruise Control and Connectiviti+ HDD navigation.
