2011 Infiniti EX35 gets the ‘Top Safety Pick’ award from IIHS

Article by Christian A., on June 28, 2011

The 2011 Infiniti EX35 had recently been awarded the Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Infiniti pointed out that just like the Infiniti M37/M56 (which is already on this list of 2011 Top Safety Picks), the EX35 also got the “Good” rating in the front, rear and side impact protection. The EX35 has been fitted with electronic stability control and its roof strength was given a good rating.

All 2011 Infiniti EX35 vehicles feature the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) that has dual-stage, dual-threshold front air bags and seat belt and occupant classification sensors.

In addition, it features roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupant head protection. Infiniti also fitted in a set of seat-mounted driver and front passenger side-impact supplemental air bags as well as front-seat Active Head Restraints.

The added standard equipment includes LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Traction Control System (TCS).

Aside from that, the Infiniti EX also offers several advanced technologies such as Lane Departure Prevention system (LDP), Intelligent Cruise Control, Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning.

The Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system turns on an indicator light if it detects another vehicle in the blind spot area. When the driver uses the turn signal, the indicator flashes and warning sounds could be heard.

The Infiniti EX is anything but boring. For one, it has a sleek and sporty look without the 4x4 box-shape look that we have been accustomed to. The compact crossover has a tapered roofline, and long bonnet with clean flowing lines. The Infiniti EX features soft edges, smooth contours, and has the brand's signature double-arch grille.

Another signature element you can find here is the irregularly shaped Xenon Lights that are placed strategically over the wheel arches for a more defined and dynamic look.

Its exteriors shout refined sportiness, which pretty much sums up the car's performance as well. And it is easy to see why it is regarded as one of the best-looking coupe crossover around.

The Infiniti EX also has rear privacy glass, chrome trimmings on the glasshouse and 18-inch allow wheels, completing the sophisticated look. Meanwhile the rear is set apart by integrated spoilers and LED lights. You can also opt to have a roof rail installed. But what distinguishes this car is the updated front bumper that allows for more air to come in, in order to meet the varied cooling requirements of its new engine.

The Infiniti EX, being a crossover coupé, is more aerodynamic than your regular boxy SUV. Because it features a lower roofline than other comparable cars, it has minimal drag of around 0.33. So the smooth edges, curvaceous roofline and head turning exterior are not just for the eyes.

Infiniti EX also stands out with its Scratch Shield paint, which guarantees you a great looking car for years! The Scratch Shield technology gives the car a glossy finish that will stay that way due to the elastic resin that erases light scratches when exposed to higher temperatures. It effectively reduces scratches by up to five times compared to traditional clear coats.

Infiniti EX35 Named IIHS Top Safety Pick

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) today awarded the 2011 Infiniti EX35 a “Top Safety Pick” rating. The rating is given to vehicles that achieve the Institute’s highest rating of “Good” in front, rear and side impact protection, are equipped with electronic stability control, and earn a good rating in roof strength. The Infiniti EX35 joins the Infiniti M37/M56 on the list of 2011 Top Safety Picks.

“Infiniti is proud to receive another Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “Like all Infiniti vehicles, the 2011 Infiniti EX35 luxury crossover is designed to offer owners a strong sense of peace of mind, whether from its exhilarating driving performance, engaging interior environment, advanced technology or long list of standard safety features.”

Every 2011 Infiniti EX35 comes equipped with the Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage, dual-threshold front air bags and seat belt and occupant classification sensors, roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupant head protection, seat-mounted driver and front passenger side-impact supplemental air bags and front-seat Active Head Restraints.

Additional standard equipment includes LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS).

In addition, the Infiniti EX also offers a host of available advanced technologies including: Lane Departure Prevention system (LDP), Intelligent Cruise Control, Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning. The Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system illuminates an indicator light if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. If the driver then uses the turn signal, the indicator flashes and an audible warning sounds.
