2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class receives new engines

Mercedes-Benz’s 2011 S-Class model will be offered with four new diesel and petrol engines. The new units will feature direct injection in the diesel engines, as well as in the new V6 and V8 BlueDIRECT petrol engines.

They will also be equipped with the revised 7G-TRONIC PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission and the ECO start/stop function.

The package is complemented by other BlueEFFICIENCY measures including the load-controlled oil pump and tires with lower rolling resistance.

The S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY model is priced from €71,876, and is able to deliver 204 hp. It also boasts a fuel consumption rating of 5.7 l/100km (41 mpg), while its CO2 emissions are at 149 g/km.

The new V6 diesel in the S 350 BlueTEC (with a starting price of €76,279) develops 258 hp and has a combined consumption of 6.8 l/100km (35 mpg), while emitting 177 g/km of CO2.

With 306hp in the S 350 BlueEFFICIENCY (with a starting price of €78,718) and 435hp in the S 500 BlueEFFICIENCY (with a starting price of €99,186), the new BlueDIRECT engine generation is now available in V6 and V8 petrol variants.

The range-topping S 600, with its 517 hp 12-cylinder biturbo engine, is priced from €156,961.
