After we saw the 911 Black Edition, Porsche decided to reveal today the Cayman S Black Edition. As expected, the new special edition will be limited to 500 units, each priced at 67,807 euro in Germany including VAT.
The new Cayman S Black Edition will be available starting July 2011 and will offer a 3.4 litre six-cylinder boxer engine with power output increased by 10 hp (7 kW) to 330 hp (243 kW) at 7,400 rpm (an additional 200 rpm). Regarding the maximum torque, this will remain unchanged: 370 Newton metres at 4,750 rpm.
With these numbers the 2011 Cayman S Black Edition is capable to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.0 seconds with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), while the model fitted with the six-gear manual transmission does it in 5.1 seconds.
The top speed is limited to 279 km/h (173 mph) with the manual transmission and 277 km/h (172 mph) with the PDK respectively – with two kilometres per hour (1.24 mph) faster than that of the Cayman S. As you can see from the photos, the car is fitted with the Boxster Spyder wheels in black.
These wheels have a diameter of 19 inches and are half an inch wider than the optional 19 inch wheels on the Cayman S.
The tyre sizes fitted are 235/35 ZR 19s on the front axle and 265/35 ZR 19s on the rear axle. As expected, the Cayman S Black Edition comes with plenty of standard features, such as Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and LED daytime running lights, automatic anti-dazzle interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor, climate control, a Sport Design steering wheel and cruise control.
Regarding the color scheme, the dashboard trim is black as are the gear lever/selector trim and the instrument dials in the instrument cluster.
Moreover, we find door entry guards emblazoned with the lettering “Black Edition” made of stainless steel, Sound Package Plus, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), universal audio interface (AUX, USB, iPod) as well as the Porsche Comfort, Infotainment and Design packages.
