Acura announced today that the 2011 TL will carry a base price tag of $35,605. Still, the pricing will rise with the addition of the Technology Package to $39,335, or $41,535 when equipped with the available Advance Package.
Moreover, the 2012 TL SH-AWD will be priced from $39,155, while the same model equipped with the Technology Package will be priced from $42,885, or $45,085 when equipped with the available Advance Package. The 2012 TL SH-AWD 6MT with Technology Package will have an MSRP of $42,885.
For those who don’t know, for 2012, the Acura TL will be offered in two distinct versions. One of this versions will be powered by a 3.5L V-6 engine delivering 280 horsepower and will be front-wheel-drive, while another version will carry the same engine but delivering 305 hp and paired with Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
The interior of the new Acura TL features a "dual personal" design that allows it to fulfill its mission as a driver's car. This design basically gives both the driver and front passenger their personal space. For the latest model year, the new TL is blessed with a modified instrument cluster as well as new surface finishes for several interior appointments, with the availability of ventilated front seats.
Bluetooth audio technology has been refined to display artists name, song title and other details, while featuring new "active pairing" functionality with cellular telephones. Other technology improvements include Dial-By-Number and dial-by-voice tags, as well as faster connection speed for the USB port. Optionally available on both the TL and TL SH-AWD models is a Technology Package that features the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition and the AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with Traffic Rerouting as well as the AcuraLink Real-Time Weather and an Acura/ELS Surround440-watt Premium Audio System.
For the latest iteration of the new Acura TL, the carmaker is providing an HHD (hard disk drive) based navigation system with a capacity of around 60 GB. This system has a more expansive map coverage, a brighter and color-rich full VGA monitor, and a new backlit LED display. Since the capacity of the HDD system has been expanded, this allows users to store up to 3,500 songs or equivalent to around 15 GB more dedicated storage space.
This system also comes with the new Song By Voice feature that enables users to pick a song by title, artist, album, genre or playlist. Moreover, the new 2012 Acura TL could be availed with the Advance Package that includes new larger wheels, ventilated front seats, and a new blind spot information (BSI) system. BSI works by providing alerts when it detects that another vehicle is behind in an adjacent lane.
Interestingly, the interior of the new 2012 Acura TL has been made quieter by 3 dB thanks to new body sealing techniques like enhanced weather-stripping design and extra expanding foam pillar separators. In terms of safety, the latest version of the TL offers an array of advanced features like the brand’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure and a number of passive safety elements.
Occupant protection and crash compatibility during frontal crashes have been significantly enhanced by employing ACE body design, which uses a network of connected structural elements to distribute the impact more evenly through the front of the Acura TL.
Furthermore, this body structure helps lessen the amount of impact on the passenger compartment as well as evenly disperse forces passed onto other vehicles during a crash. Passive safety elements installed on the new Acura TL include six airbags and active head restraints for the driver and front passenger seats.
Airbags include dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags as well as dual-chamber front seat side airbags with front passenger seat Occupant Position Detection System. Also included are side-curtain airbags for front and outboard rear seating positions.
