This is the 2012 Bmw 116d EfficientDynamics Edition, the latest addition in the 1-Series range which promises to set new standards in terms of efficiency. As expected, the car is powered nu a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine featuring new measures to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. These features include engine efficiency, aerodynamic properties and rolling resistance.
The 1.6-liter engine delivers a maximum output of 85 kW/116 bhp at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 260 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. The engine is bolted to a 6-speed manual transmission and can push the car from zero to 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 195 km/h.
According to the Bavarian manufacturer, the 2012 BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Edition has an average fuel consumption of just 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of only 99 grams per kilometre.
This means that the new model takes the lead in its segment, extending its lead as the sportiest and also most efficient vehicle in its class. Bmw also announced that the BluePerformance Technology is now optionally available for the BMW 120d. thanks to the BMW BluePerformance Technology, the 120d already meets the EU6 emission standard due to take effect from 2014.
