2012 Bmw 6-Series headlights provided by Magneti Marelli

Article by Christian A., on August 13, 2011

Magneti Marelli S.p.A. provides the latest BMW 6 series with bi-xenon headlights as standard. Three-dimensional LED light rings function as daytime running lights and parking lights on the adaptive LED headlights. An additional LED light source placed separately in the headlight housing produces the cornering light, controlled based on the speed, the yaw rate and the steering angle of the vehicle when it turns.

The cornering light, at low speeds, ensures that the road is lighted in the direction where the vehicle is being steered. Robert Bosch supplies the instrument cluster in the 6 series that features a high-resolution 9.2-inch information display.

This system can show information like fuel consumption, mileage and efficient dynamics data. It also provides operator feedback from the driver assistance systems and check-control messages.

The A-pillars supplied by F.S. Fehrer Automotive GmbH of Germany also contributes to the sporty feel of the 6 series. They are heavily slanted to make the passenger compartment appear especially flat. It will also make the vehicle seem very low.

The hood’s contour lines flow forward toward the kidney grille, producing a V shape that is continued by the contours of the headlights. F.S. Fehrer also provides the windshield cowl and top cover to the 6-series convertible.

The BMW 6-Series Coupe marks the entry of an outstandingly sporty and one of a kind 2+2-seater in the market. The top of the line coupe is wider and longer than the previous model. It is also 5 millimeters closer to the ground, helping it look more low set and powerful. The new proportions on the BMW 6-Series Coupe are highlighted by surfaces and lines that take its cue from the movement of waves. These flowing lines and curves instantly evoke a sense of aggressive grace, complemented nicely by elegant and striking design features that underscore the opulence and elegance of the car.

The front of the car is dominated by the forward slanting BMW kidney grille. The large grille reminds you of the car’s sporting characteristics. The flat and wide design of the grille gives you a visual of the powerful engine it nestles.

The grille slats are slanted slightly towards to top, giving it the signature shark nose character. The bonnet has contour lines that meet towards the grille, forming a V shape that is also seen in the headlights’ contours, as well as the kidney and wide air intake. All of these give the car a road-focused appearance. You can opt for the optional foglamps that have chrome elements and LED lights. These foglamps are located in front to help direct your eyes to the sturdy looking wheel arches.

Adaptive LED headlights.

The BMW 6-Series Coupe has bi-xenon headlights that come as standard in all its cars. The twin round headlights have an accent trim that cuts across the top, giving it the same focused look that you see on other models. You can also opt for the adaptive LED headlamps. The low beam and high beam also use LED and features LED light rings for the daytime running and the parking lights. These lights are flattened out towards the lower edge and have an accent LED lights at the top. Overall, the look of these lights is eye-catching and perfectly showcases the cutting-edge light technology of the adaptive headlights.

Additionally, these lights are responsible for the high and low beam light from the pair of light rings. Here, you would see horizontal LED ribs that are located at the middle of the light rings. BMW’s signature twin headlights are made even more striking even when the daytime running lights are switched off and more so when the headlights are on at night.
