Jeep is relying on the Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited (a new variant of its 4x4 flagship) to attract the younger crowd. The sport-focused Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited is one of three new models that will be added to Jeep’s lineup in Europe. The other models are limited edition models -- the Wrangler Mountain and the Compass Black Edition.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited was first shown in March as a design study at the Geneva motor show. Jeep added an extra trim level to the current range, which comprises the Laredo, Limited, Overland and the new range-topping performance SRT variant. This new addition is positioned a bit lower than Overland when it comes to specification.
However, this brings additional sporting accents to the exterior and interior design. Choosing the Grand Cherokee S Limited means that the car gets a black gloss front grille surround, some black headlamp bezels, exhaust tips and a set of 20in black gloss alloys. The roof rack was replaced with roof moulding covers so that the Jeep would get a look that’s more streamlined. The SUV’s rear would receive a diffuser.
Inside this new 4x4, we will see a leather-covered perforated heated steering wheel as well as ventilated sports-styled Nappa leather and suede seats. Its carbonfibre accents are built into the instrument and door trim panels. It also gets racing-style pedals.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee S Limited is offered with a 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 that delivers 238bhp at 4000rpm and 406lb ft at 1800-2800rpm. It is coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the 3.0-litre CRD powertrain is available in a low-output version, delivering 187bhp at 4000rpm and 325lb ft of torque across 1600-2800rpm.
With the ushering in of a new era in vehicle aerodynamics, Jeep introduces the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee CD. This model—greatly improved and more refined than the preceding model, the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee CD—underscores fuel efficiency and design fluidity. Developed with a 7-percent improvement in drag, the Grand Cherokee CD proves itself to be more refined, focused and sportier than the model it replaces.
Although new and improved, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee CD still sports a classic Grand Cherokee styling, but with a sculpted athletic exterior designed especially for the 2011 model.
On the front, the 2011 Grand Cherokee CD includes Jeep's classic seven-slot grille, round headlamps and trapezoidal wheel arches. The removable lower front fascia delivers improved fuel economy, on-the-road performance and off-roads capability. Still on the lower front fascia is a large chromed appliqué (Limited and Overland models) that showcases available tow hooks—perfect for situations when the roads become too tough and emergency strikes.
On to the side, the 2011 model features a buff and powerful profile. Black appliqués on its B-pillars give the day-light opening (DLO) modern, sleek and chic appearance. Available chrome mirrors and door handles very well complement the fully-chromed DLO surround in all models.
Standard 17-inch wheels deliver good off-roads capability, with optional 18 and 20-inch wheels, all new with the 2011 model. Tail lights wrap the 2011 Grand Cherokee’s rear quarter panel right to the back of the vehicle, creating a solid form and a truly high-end appearance. Its back exterior’s design resonates with the entirety of this beauty by Jeep.
