2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Arctic gets ready for the winter

Article by Christian A., on November 10, 2011

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara will be available with an Arctic theme. Buyers can choose from the following colors: Winter Chill, Bright Silver and Bright White. The exterior gets a body-color hardtop and fender flares, “Arctic” badges on the front fenders, a “Yeti Footprint” decal over part of the driver’s side fender and hood, black hood decal and Mopar black fuel filler door and taillamp guards.

It is also available with an aggressive package consisting of Wrangler Rubicon tires and wheels.

In particular, the distinctive semi-gloss black 17-inch wheels are covered with 32-inch tires. The interior of the Wrangler Arctic features seats that come with black Tectonic fabric with Polar White accents and orange piping and accent stitching. Its front seats are heated. There’s also an “Arctic” logo in the seat back. The steering wheel, arm rest and console lid feature accent stitching.

Its door trim and nets have an orange accent. Its grab handles and dashboard vent rings also have a Polar White trim. The Wrangler Arctic package will feature Mopar tread pattern slush mats with white “Jeep” lettering.

Building on Jeep’s seven decades of 4x4 engineering experience, the Jeep Wrangler offers supreme off-road capability with iconic four-wheel drive. The latest iteration of the Wrangler still offers a body-on-frame design, live axles and electronic lockers as well as front and rear five-link suspension system. For this version, the ride and sound characteristics of the Wrangler's body-on-frame design have been meticulously optimized.

The overall performance of the new Jeep Wrangler has been improved by employing revised suspension calibrations as well as new motor and transmission adaptations. Customers could now choose between a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission. Jeep also worked thoroughly to improve the interior sound quality by refining the powertrain mounting system and employing noise damping in the firewall.

In addition, the Jeep Wrangler comes with an engine cover that could effectively prevent engine and exterior noises to seep into the interior. Even on the outside, the noise coming from the engine could be hardly heard even while it’s idle.

To achieve this effect, all accessories have been mounted directly to the new 3.6-liter V-6 engine with no accessory brackets, thereby ensuring that all accessories -- the power steering pump, air conditioning compressor and alternator – remain firmly anchored and are less vulnerable to vibration and noise. Moreover, Jeep retuned the shocks of the Wrangler to achieve an optimal balance between advanced on-road handling and rugged off-road capability.
