After we saw the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, the German manufacturer decided that it’s time to reveal a more powerful version of its new car: behold the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe. Yes, the new car is powered by the impressive AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine, found also on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Sedan and capable to deliver an impressive 336 kW (457 hp) and peak torque of 600 Newton.
The engine is mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission with "Controlled Efficiency" mode as standard and can push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds and to a top speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph (electronically limited). Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz also offers the AMG Development Package capable to offer a 22 kW (30 hp) increase in output.
This means that the car will deliver 358 kW(487 hp) and will be capable to hit 100 km/h or 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, while the top speed will remain limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph. The new AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission offers the S", "S+" and "M" modes in order to deliver increased agility and can be selected via the new rotary control. The RACE START function allows the driver to explore the vehicle's full acceleration capability.
The driver can use the ESP switch on the centre console to choose between ESP ON, ESP SPORT and ESP OFF modes. Mercedes-Benz also offers new features exclusively available for the C 63 AMG Coupe from the AMG Performance Studio, such as: AMG five-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in titanium grey with a high-gloss finish, AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in titanium grey with a high-gloss finish, AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in matt black with a high-gloss finish on the rim flange, AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package, AMG rear axle differential lock, AMG trim elements in carbon fibre/high-gloss black piano lacquer, illuminated AMG door sill panels and AMG floor mats.
As expected, Mercedes-Benz will also offer the C 63 AMG Coupe ‘Edition 1’ which comes with the AMG sports seats, door centre panels and armrests come in black designo leather with contrasting porcelain seams on the sports seats, a porcelain piano-lacquer look and the two-tone AMG performance steering wheel.
Moreover, the car will come with AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt black make and, as an option, with matt finish in designo magno night black or diamond white metallic bright. The 2012 C 63 AMG Coupe starts at €72,590, while the C 63 AMG Coupé "Edition 1” will start from €77,231. The AMG Performance package is available for an extra €7116.20.
