Pricing details of the 2012 MINI Roadster have been announced. MINI added about $3,000 to the version without a roof compared to the Coupe. The 2012 MINI Cooper Roader base model has a starting price of $25,050. This is powered by a base 1.6-liter that can deliver 121hp. Meanwhile, the Cooper S Roadster is priced from $28,050 and produces 184 hp from a turbocharged version of the same engine.

This vehicle can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 7 seconds and could attain a top speed 141 mph. The diesel isn’t available in the U.S. but consumers could get the range-topping track-focused JCW Roadster with 206hp. This is priced at $35,200. All the versions will start to be offered in the spring.

Exterior Design

The basic design language of MINI is very prominent in the new concept’s body. The beefy body with flowing curves and complementing lines on the surface are just among the perfect examples.

It comes as no surprise how the distinctly shaped 13-degree windshield also made it to the new Roadster’s exterior features. There are also the three-dimensional stainless steel roll-over bars (with the optional wind protection inserts). We couldn’t be more impressed with the way the designers executed the 2-seats with flat bootlid and short passenger compartment just as they always do.

In fact, they had also done an outstanding job with the exteriors. The new convertible’s waistline is slightly raised throughout the body as it reaches all the way to the tail end. This gives the new MINI the distinct shape of a top-down whether the rooftop is folded up or otherwise. Similarly, the wraparound chrome strip along the roof and the windows intensifies the Roadster’s appeal to the limits.

From what we can see up front, the brand’s signature stance brings out the Roadster’s sportier attitude (in the usual way). And just as long there are the distinctive design features, MINI’s unique identity will come out naturally.

One of which is the radiator grille with hexagonal contours. Anyone can spot a MINI from afar with this extraordinary radiator design. Of course we can also take into account the black borders with chrome accents at the lower edges. But as always, it’s probably the signature side indicator and big round headlamps that make up most of the visual highlights of the MINI. Don’t you all agree?
