At the 8th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. introduced an all-new sedan model dubbed “Sunny.” This model will be first offered in China in January 2011 and then move steadily throughout 170 countries worldwide under varying vehicle brand names. It was in 2003 that the Sunny was first introduced in China.
It is the first locally built model from the new Dongfeng Nissan partnership. Loved by customers for its quality, space and driving performance, the Sunny made quick strides to establish the Nissan brand in the passenger vehicle market in China.
With leading fuel-economy rates, the all-new Sunny is targeted at young families in their 30s who want a medium sized sedan that has a dynamic upscale design with excellent space, quality and features.
Sunny is equipped with the proven Nissan 1.5-liter HR15DE engine with dual injectors and a new-generation Xtronic CVT with an auxiliary transmission. Both were only recently introduced in China. Sunny offers ease in handling for city driving where there's repeated acceleration and deceleration.
Nissan claims that Sunny offers sporty and agile driving at low speeds, and steady and stable driving at higher speeds, attributed to its use of MacPherson struts for the front suspension and a torsion beam for the rear suspension.
The new Sunny will be built in Dongfeng Nissan's Huadu Plant in Guangzhou. It will have a starting price of RMB 82.8K to 112.8K (1.04 million - 1.41million yen).
