2012 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 Facelift starts at £62,285 in the UK

After the 2012 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 was seen at the Brussels motor show, it will be launched in the UK on March 1. Known to be the ultimate Land Cruiser, the model features advanced technologies for off-road driving and comes with a series of luxury features. The single version has a price tag of £62,285 on the road.

Land Cruiser V8 gets a fresh design at the front, as well as new designs for its bumper, grille and fog lights as well as new headlamp units that consist of high-intensity discharge units and LED daytime running lights.

The UK model has new black roof rails, side moldings with chrome details and a set of new-design 20-inch alloy wheels. Its rear light units were redesigned and its LED turn indicators were integrated into the door mirrors.

UK consumers have eight exterior colors to choose from, including a couple of new ones: Pearl White and Pure White. The major interior revisions include new, air conditioned/heated front seats, heated steering wheel, a central cool box, and improvements to the quality and look of the trims and finishes.

The most significant of the equipment changes are the use of a comprehensive lineup of handling and driver-assistance systems that make the full spectrum of off-road driving scenarios easier and safer to negotiate.

Land Cruiser V8 still has its 4.5-litre V8 turbodiesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission but it has been subjected to adjustments to get exhaust emissions in line with Euro 5 standards.

These include the addition of diesel particulate filter (DPF) and new fuel injectors in the common rail system. Its maximum power is 268bhp (200kW) at 3,600rpm, and maximum torque of 650Nm is delivered between 1,600 and 2,800rpm.

Exterior Design

Once in a while, a facelift is needed to maintain a vehicle’s wow factor and the 2013 Land Cruiser is no exemption. Now with a “refreshed” exterior styling, the 2013 Land Cruiser comes with an updated front grille and headlamps installed with HID low-beams.

Moreover, LED Daytime Running Lights and a chrome side molding have been featured in the 2013 Land Cruiser with a redesigned side mirrors and tail lamps. Its massive front and rear fenders effectively convey the “Advanced and Rugged” theme that it is trying to pull off. In order to maintain its steady and confident façade, a new grille and headlamps have been installed and at the same time, a graceful flowing hood that goes well with its grille and beltlines.

In order to add strength into the whole design, the front, area around the rear door handles, and the back door panels have been redesigned to have character lines. Also, to reduce wind noise, the A-pillars are now foam-filled and a “bifacial” molding is installed in between the windshield and body.

Underbody panels extend from behind the front bumper, under the engine and up behind the rear wheels to protect the engine and transmission as well as to enable the SUV to traverse smoothly in rocky terrain. These underbody panels are also beneficial so that air flows smoothly underneath the vehicle resulting to minimal drag and turbulence.

Not only will its exterior have a bit of upgrade but its interior will be treated to one as well. Complementing its new exterior is an interior dressed in either Sandstone or Black. Moreover, its interior upgrade includes a perforated leather trim with ventilated front seats, a higher gloss wood grain finish, a brighter silver instrument panel ornamentation, some chrome-plated air registers and of course, an updated meter-cluster lighting.

But the surprises don’t just end there, actually. It also comes with a Multi-Terrain Monitor with front, side or rear selectable views and a new Multi-Information Display. For a better driving experience, the 2013 Land Cruiser also has an Eco Driving Indicator light and zone display, a comfortable heated steering wheel, and a Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Additional DC 12V power outlets are also installed at the rear of the center console while an AC 120V power outlet is found on the rear cargo deck.

To add to its fresher look, Toyota offers seven exterior colors for the 2013 Land Cruiser. It can come in a selection of Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Salsa Red Pearl, Sonora Gold Pearl, Amazon Green Metallic, Black, and the newest color in its palette, Pearl White.
