Last week we saw the first teaser photos with the 2013 Dodge Dart, but today the American manufacturer also revealed the first interior images. Chrysler says that the new Dodge Dart will be built with materials and precision craftsmanship typically found in more expensive vehicle segments.
Moreover, Dodge will offer thousands of ways to personalize and some of the high tech features seen on the interior will be the class-exclusive customizable 7-inch gauge cluster, 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, heated steering wheel and illuminated floating island bezel.
Safety was is very important and as a result the 2013 Dart will offer 10 standard airbags. 14 interior color and trims combinations will be available, but Mopar will also offer new customization options, which means that customers can make their car unique.
As we said, the 2013 Dart will get a 7-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) customizable gauge cluster display with light pipe surround that also houses the available class-exclusive UConnect Touch 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia center.
The glove box can easily conceal a stowed iPad, while the center console features auxiliary jacks to plug in a wide variety of electronic devices. The 2013 Dodge Dart is also the only car in its class to offer Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection.
A fun-to-drive quality is already part of the 2013 Dodge Dart. By offering a choice of three advanced and powerful 4-cylinder engines that are fuel efficient as well, Dodge hopes to increase further this particular quality. The first engine is the 2.0-liter 16-valve Tigershark engine with output at 160 horsepower. The second option is the 1.4-liter 16-valve MultiAir Intercooled Turbo engine that has an output, like the first engine, of 160 horsepower. Finally the third engine is the 2.4-liter 16-valve MultiAir 2 Tigershark engine having output of 184 horsepower.
Along with these three engines, Dodge will be offering three choices for the transmissions. These are the manual 6-speed, automatic 6-speed, and the dual dry clutch 6-speed transmission. With the three engine choices and the three selections for the transmission, it results in the 2013 Dart having the most diverse powertrain lineup for its segment and therefore redefining what performance truly is.
It is important to note that the MultiAir technology equipped in the engine ensures that no matter what the driving conditions are, the combustion is put at optimum at any speed. This is made possible by letting the system have dynamic and direct control of not just the combustion but the air intake too.
Thus while torque under low rpm is improved by 15%, fuel efficiency is better by 7.5%. Without a doubt, the 2013 Dart was developed and then engineered to more than meet the expectation when it comes to reliability, quality, and satisfaction. Truly the engineers at Dodge made sure to focus on what customers want when they made each part of the 2013 Dart.
These include making sure that the 2013 Dart delivers aerodynamic performance that is world class and at the same time offering responsive and agile driving experience. It even includes what for many may be trivial details like cooling and heating performance that are class-leading in order for occupants to get the right temperature at the correct location.
Of course, having a quiet interior was important as well. Chrysler Group LLC Vehicle Line Executive Matt Liddane said that the 2013 Dart was built with such a passion as to show that the brand is returning to the compact car segment in a grand manner.
The new Dart is many things, he added, as it is a vehicle that is fun to drive and is fitted with different high-technology features that are not only useful but clever as well. It is truly a well-crafted vehicle that has agility and power with fuel-efficient powertrains, he continued.
