Earlier today we revealed you the first photos with the interior, but in the meantime Hyundai released the first details and specs of the car. As expected, the company confirmed the big changes and announced that the car received new four- and six-cylinder powertrains.
The base engine will be the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 271 hp and 275 lb-ft , a big improvement if we take a look at the previous numbers: 210 hp and 223 lb-ft.
Moreover, the 3.8-liter V6 engine delivers now 345 hp and 295 lb-ft, a 39 hp improvement comparing it to the previous version of the engine.
Regarding the engine sound, here is what Hyundai did: “In order to raise the emotional quality in the Lambda 3.8 GDi model, a sound generator is applied to replace the rough engine sound with a classy and sporty sound.”
Both engines can be mated with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission, designed by Hyundai. The new Hyundai Genesis Coupe will make its debut in the United States in January at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
2013 Genesis Coupe features interior refinements with uniquely sophisticated details. The instrument panel crash pad adapts a new and more elegant stitched-seam appearance. Leather-equipped models also feature a leather-covered parking brake lever. The instrument cluster has a new electroluminescent gauge cluster for exceptional readability and a classier ambience. Driver’s side rear seat access has been improved with a new driver-side rear seat walk-in assist function. Front passengers are now assisted by seatbelt guides for ease in buckling up.
All Genesis Coupes also feature driver seat power lumbar support, as well as front seat back pockets. The centre stack multi-gauge cluster displays real-time mpg, oil temperature and either torque level for 3.8 models or turbocharger boost pressure for 2.0T models. A new centre fascia tray with cover provides additional storage, while a softer touch, lower sheen interior finish enhances the premium feel. Also, sport front seats with deep side bolsters provide outstanding lateral support for sportive driving trips.
A Proximity Key and push-button start are both available for convenience, while the Infinity premium audio system and two-stage front seat heaters are just two more elite features of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
