2013 Mazda CX-9 Facelift unveiled ahead of Australian International Motor Show

2012 Australian International Motor Show will be where the refreshed Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV will debut. The show, which is in Sydney, will open on October 18 and will continue until October 28. Later this year, the 2013 CX-9 will be launched in Australia. Mazda CX-9 is a crossover sport-utility SUV that has a unique sporty looks with its high-quality cabin, flexible three-rows, and Mazda's Zoom-Zoom" driving dynamics.

The current CX-9 has reached worldwide sales of 210,000 units in 74 countries, including North America and Australia, as Mazda's top-of-the-line SUV. The 2013 Mazda CX-9 still has the practicality and dynamic driving performance of the current model while having Mazda's "KODO - Soul of Motion" design theme at the front and rear to have a sportier styling and stronger presence.

Improvements in craftsmanship and interior design enhance further the feeling of quality and refinement. Its infotainment system has the newest audio, navigation and speech-recognition systems based on the Human Machine Interface (HMI) which is intuitive to use.

Furthermore, it has, advanced active-safety features like Forward Obstruction Warning System, Lane Departure Warning System, and High Beam Control System, that assist drivers to know when a danger is coming and how to prevent it. Just like the existing model, the 2013 CX-9 is powered by the MZI 3.7-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission for powerful and refined driving pleasure.

New Mazda CX9 -- spacious enough to comfortably accommodate six occupants – boasts of a highly appealing sleek appearance as made possible by its a flat windscreen angle and thin tapered windows, as well as by its rising belt line and large fenders.

The front end of the new Mazda CX9 exudes dynamism thanks to its sculptured bonnet and a large front bumper flanked by sleek headlamps with silver-look edges wrapping into the SUV’s fenders. The lighting units feature silver-look moldings while the grille bar and front intake areas are finished in chrome. The new Mazda CX-9 could be specified with available turning signals in the side mirrors.

On the rear, the new CX9 boasts of a five-point rear window and a large rear bumper. The exterior looks of the new CX-9 are rounded off by a roof spoiler and dual trapezoidal exhaust pipes. Depending on the market, the new Mazda CX-9 could feature a set of 10-spoke, 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

To deliver a spacious interior, the new Mazda CX9 is optimized its entire dimensions -- 5,089 mm in length, 1,936 mm in width and 1,728 mm in height – as complemented by high quality materials. The cockpit reveals an instrument cluster featuring black-out meters, indirect illumination and silver rings, while both ends of the dashboard and the sides of the center console are laden with decorative wood-like trimming.

Depending on the market and grade, the new CX-9 could be equipped with durable sporty leather seats featuring high-quality stitching and silver accents. Customers could also avail of any of the two available interior color packages: black or sand.

Standard features on the new Mazda CX9 include an all-new 3.7-liter V6 engine as mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox (with manual shift mode). An Active Torque-Split all-wheel drive system is also standard. Depending on the market, optional features include heated front seats and driver's seat memory function, burglar alarm, power adjustable, privacy windows as well as power front and rear windows.
