2013 MINI Paceman priced at $23,900 in the United States

Article by Andrew Christian, on December 3, 2012

The Mini Paceman has a price tag of $23,900 (which includes destination costs), making it $1200 more expensive than the Countryman. The Mini Paceman is basically the two-door version of the Countryman. The price was revealed at the 2012 L.A. Auto Show where Mini had on display the Clubvan, the latest member of the Mini portfolio.

The Paceman becomes a part of the Mini lineup shortly after its bigger sibling, which entered the family for the 2012 model year. A 121-hp 1.8-liter I-4 powers the base model but it can be raised to 181 hp if the customers opt for the racy Paceman Cooper S, which is priced $3600 higher. For just $1700 more, consumers can get all-wheel drive for the S model to create the $29,200 Paceman S ALL4.

Mini claims that the Paceman will keep its go-kart-like handling but it loses some of its distinctive Mini features as certain center controls have been transferred to the door panels.

All models feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard but a six-speed automatic is available. The following are its other standard equipment: sport seats, a two-part center rail storage (single-section center rail is extra), electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, model-specific door sill lettering, and an audio system with auxiliary sockets.

The Paceman will start to arrive in dealerships on March 16, 2013. The upcoming Mini Clubvan also made an appearance at the L.A. show. The dimensions of the Clubvan are the same as the Clubman, which is where it was based on.

What makes it different is that it’s being promoted as a commercial van. It doesn’t have rear seats and its rear side windows were blocked out, with the show car’s white opaque windows seeming to promote locksmith services. In other ways, the car is very similar to the Clubman. The 2013 Clubvan, which is priced from $26,000, is scheduled to start selling this March.
