Nissan is overhauling the interior of its Nissan Micra supermini as part of a number of mid-life changes intended to peel off the vehicle’s budget car tag. Nissan is endowing the Micra with a number of “comprehensive” changes that goes “deeper than a mere makeover.”

These changes include equipping the Micra with new technology and entertainment options like the larger, 5.8-inch touchscreen that features the latest NissanConnect infotainment system, enhanced with Google search technology. The Micra now features a new trim, higher-quality fabrics and more textured plastics, enhancing its visual appeal. It is not only the interior of the Micra that received a makeover but also the exterior.

The Micra boasts of a different front end, with a new grille, bonnet, bumper, headlights and foglight surrounds. The supermini’s rear sports new LED lights, revised tailgate trim and a redesigned bumper.

A customer could further enhanced the looks of a Nissan Micra by availing of several options like a panoramic glass roof, new alloy wheel designs, a park assist system and more exterior color choices. Nissan also improved the standard specs of entry-level Visia, mid-range Acenta and top-spec Tekna variants.

For instance, Visia models now feature remote central locking, electric front windows and power steering, as well as a CD player with auxiliary and USB connections, multiple airbags and ABS and ESP. Acenta models, meanwhile, now don 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic wipers and lights and minor visual enhancements. Tekna models, on the hand, add more features to the Accenta specs.

These include climate control, parking sensors and park assist. Tekna specs also include 16-inch alloy wheels, 'suede-like' seat fabric, folding door mirrors, keyless start and the NissanConnect sat-nav and media system.

Owners of Acenta trim models and up could personalize their superminis. For instance, they could choose the color of wheel center caps and door mirrors. They could also customize the gear knob, air vents, gear-stick surround and floor mats.

The Nissan Micra is still powered by the same lineup of engines, including the base 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol and the 1.2-liter supercharged petrol DIG-S. A five-speed manual transmission comes as standard, with CVT being an option.
