At last, the Porsche Cayenne lineup is almost completed (we still need the Cayenne Turbo S) as the German manufacturer introduced today the all-new Cayenne GTS. Set to make its world debut at the Auto China 2012 in Beijing, the new car promises to offer a more powerful engine, more dynamic power development, a tauter chassis with lower ride height as well as sporty equipment.
The new Cayenne GTS fills the gap between the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo and it is powered by a V8 engine (same found on the Cayenne S) delivering 420 hp (309 kW) and mated to an eight-speed Tip-tronic S with integrated auto start/stop function.
According to Porsche, the car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds, 160 km/h (100 mph) in 13.3 seconds while the top speed is limited to 261 km/h or 162 mph. The NEDC fuel consumption is 10.7 litres per 100 kilometres. The 2013 Cayenne GTS is also equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which lowers the the body by 24 mm relative to the Cayenne S.
Moreover, the GTS comes with a new front end, borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo, frames and trims in high-gloss black, new side sills and wider wheel arches but also a distinctive roof spoiler with twin-wing profile.
Inside, the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS features a leather interior with Alcantara elements as standard. Moreover, the front sports seats with eight adjustment options are offered as standard. Regarding the price, the car will be available for eight adjustment options in Germany and will go on sale in July 2012.
The Cayenne GTS's interior combines athleticism and exclusiveness. Leather interiors are standard, the same with its Alcantara trims. For example, Alcantara is executed on the roof liner, the seat centre and parts of the door panels, the centre console armrest, and pillar trim. The driver and front seats are premium eight-way electronically adjustable GTS sports seats. The single-seat styled rear seats provide rear passengers with superb side support. The SportDesign steering wheel has shift paddles set for manual gear changes and it blends seamlessly with the purist interior. The SportDesign steering wheel can come with an Alcantara steering wheel rim as an optional extra.
The Porsche Cayenne GTS can be customised even further with optional interior packages exclusively for the GTS. Drivers can select from Carmine Red or Peridot dashboard stitching, door elements, seats, and centre console armrest. Embroidered "GTS" lettering on headrests and seat belts and the foot mat stitching are maintained in the corresponding colour and is the final touch to the "GTS line" interior.
Seat climate control to lane change assist options
The Cayenne programme offers a fabulous range of options for a more personalised vehicle. Features available range from ventilated and heated seats to four-zone climate control that allows individual climate control for the rear seats to intelligent assistance systems. Offerings include adaptive cruise control with such special features as overtaking assistance, cornering speed control, and distance warning. The Lane Change Assist (LCA) system, another available option, monitors the left and right lanes to 70 metres behind the vehicle, including blind spots, by using two radar sensors in the rear bumper. The LCA system increases safety and comfort, especially on highways. This works from the 30 to 250 km/h speed range.
