Volkswagen has introduced the Beetle Fender limited edition, produced in partnership with the famous guitar manufacturer. Powering the limited-edition Beetle Fender is an efficient but strong 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS engine mated to either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox. Similar to the cover of Spinal Tap’s album Smell The Glove, it is offered with only a lustrous Deep Pearl Black color.
It features a rear spoiler, a set of stylish 18-inch ‘Discus’ alloy wheels, and a Fender badge on each front wing. The guitar connection is quickly apparent upon entering the interior. Every car gets a dash panel in vibrant ‘Sunburst’ wood, similar to a classic Fender guitar. It also comes with the 400-Watt Fender sound system, accompanied with a boot-mounted subwoofer, and illuminated front speaker mountings.
Every Beetle Fender gets the RCD 510 audio unit with full-colour touchscreen and MDI multi-device interface, 2Zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, bi-xenon headlights and bespoke ‘Cheyenne’ cloth seats with leather-look side bolsters. The price tag on the Beetle Fender indicates £23,015 (RRP OTR) for the manual model, and £24,610 for the DSG. Volkswagen will start to take orders on January 2.
