Agero Connected Services will begin to offer core services for the AcuraLink connected-car system of the 2014 Acura RLX luxury sedan in the spring. Agero's system will start to deliver AcuraLink, an online-based system that offers infotainment to drivers. Agero offers an embedded system comparable to OnStar and a mobile application. The contract with Acura, the luxury brand of Honda Motor Co., is a new one for Agero.
Gary Wallace, Agero's vice president of corporate relations, said that Acura is a new customer and that he hopes that the collaboration with the brand will deepen further and will continue. Agero said that a new feature enables owners to send destination information from their phones to the RLX navigation screen.
Based in Dallas, Agero Connected Services offers connected-vehicle services for the automotive, insurance and aftermarket industries. In a statement, Agero President Charles Cavolina, said that AcuraLink “brings the ownership experience beyond the car and personalizes Acura's brand experience to the AcuraLink user.”
