As you may know already, the Bmw M4 will be introduced in January, at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, but the Bavarian manufacturer already announced what we will find under the hood. And there is no surprise there because we will find a 3.0-liter high-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with Bmw M TwinPower Turbo technology that produces a maximum output of 430 hp and over 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque.
Although many of you folks won’t be impressed by these numbers due to the fact that the current M3 has 420 hp, we have to tell you that the new M4 has a total weight of under 1,500 kilograms. The new M3 sedan will also be powered by the new high-revving six-cylinder in-line engine mated to a M Double Clutch Transmission.
“The new turbocharged unit, which can develop more than 7,500 rpm, combines the best of both worlds – on the one hand a high-revving design for instant response, linear power delivery over a wide engine speed range and an unmistakable and characterful engine note, and on the other hand BMW TwinPower Turbo technology for maximised torque over a broad rpm range.” said the press release.
