2014 Fiat 500L earns ‘Top Safety Pick’ award from IIHS

Article by Christian A., on November 2, 2013

The all-new 2014 Fiat 500L has earned the recognition as a 2013 Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. This revolutionary four-door B-segment hatchback is just one of the two Chrysler Group vehicles to be named in the recent batch of IIHS assessments. For the last 10 months, the IIHS has commended 14 Chrysler Group vehicles.

To be designated as a Top Safety Pick, the vehicle has to get a “good” rating in the following tests: side impact, front moderate-overlap impact, roof-crush experienced from a rollover, and a rear collision that may induce whiplash. The all-new Fiat 500L was given the highest-possible score of “good” in all of these tests.

Jason Stoicevich, Head of Fiat Brand for North America, Chrysler Group LLC, said that the all-new 2014 Fiat 500L is a “unique” offering in this market as it merges Italian style with a loft-like interior, tremendous value and sophisticated safety features like reactive head restraints and seven standard air bags.

The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee mid-size SUV was also named as a 2013 Top Safety Pick. It comes with 10 air bags as standard. It also uses a 65% content ratio of advanced-technology steel.
