2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat VIN0001 auctioned for $825,000

Dodge said back in July that the first production 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat VIN0001 will be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson Last Vegas. The auction took place last weekend and the Challenger SRT Hellcat fetched an impressive $825,000. Taking in consideration that the standard 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat starts at $59,995, this means almost 14 times the base price.

Still, according to Dodge, the special Challenger SRT Hellcat is dressed in a Viper-exclusive Stryker Red Paint and it will never be another like it. In addition, the lucky buyers receives a HEMI painted presentation box with a VIN0001 electronic vehicle build book and video documentary, still shots, vehicle footage as well as an authentic Challenger SRT Hellcat embossed Laguna Leather iPad sleeve, a signed SRT Hellcat lithograph and an unique “birth certificate” for VIN0001.

Under the hood, there is the same 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 Hellcat engine that produces 707 hp and 650 lb-ft (881) Nm of torque. Bolted to a TorqueFlite 8-speed paddle shift automatic transmission with RPM matching downshift, the Challenger SRT Hellcat runs the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 125 mph or 202 km/h.

Earlier this month, Dodge announced that the Challenger SRT Hellcat is not only more powerful, but also more fuel efficient that other supercars as it returns 22 mpg on the highway when equipped with the TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. Using the 6-speed manual transmission, the Challenger SRT Hellcat returns 21 mpg on the highway.
