Instead of the bigger LA Auto Show, Hyundai chose the 2014 Miami Auto Show to unveil its facelifted 2015 Azera. According to the manufacturer, the 2015 Azera Facelift arrives with restyled front grille, bumper fascia and a rear bumper, while the Limited model gets new LED fog lights. Moreover, the Limited model receives features from the Limited model Premium Package as standard, including the safety features.
Moreover, the 2015 Azera gets standard Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic alert and Lane Change Assist, illuminated door sill plates, hands-free Smart Trunk opener, a new center stack design and an 8-inch color LCD navigation display.
The 3.3-liter Lambda II direct-injected V6 petrol engine produces 293 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. Other features on the 2015 Azera include the next-generation Blue Link system, which includes the Vehicle Safeguards Alerts In-Vehicle App.
The app is the perfect guard for parents who want to coach teen drivers by monitoring their vehicle’s speed, hours of operation and movements via text message or e-mail, or both.
Hyundai Azera has 193.3-inches overall length, 73.2-inches width and sits on a 112-inch wheelbase. These impressive dimensions bring the new Azera on the same level with the Genesis and Sonata in terms of size. In fact, this new model has the most ample legroom and also the most generous front headspace in its class.
Hyundai’s world-class weight efficiency programme aims to deliver exceptional fuel consumption and performance for all its vehicles. Weighing 3,605lbs, the new Azera is impressively lighter than the Ford Taurus and the Buick LaCrosse by 400lbs and 200lbs, respectively. This cut down on weight give Hyundai Azera an edge where fuel efficiency, agility and performance matter.
The Hyundai Azera’s front is equipped with a 24mm diameter stabilizer bar, coil springs and MacPherson strut suspension. At the same time, the advanced independent multi-link rear suspension is also there to deliver superior handling and optimum riding experience.
The outstanding capabilities of both suspensions are further optimised through the use of ASD (or Sachs Amplitude Selective Dampers). This suspension delivers excellent road surface grip, enhanced driving comfort, better handling and improved body on wheel control.
Azera also comes with the standard 18-inch hyper silver alloy wheels and is fitted with a set of 245/45R18 tyres. Optionally available is the 245/40R19 for the 19-inch set of wheels.
One of Hyundai’s assurances is safety, which is why the new Azera is equipped with an impressive suite of safety features. The seat system for one is developed to reduce impact and is also designed to reduce the risk of neck and head injuries by at least 17%. Hyundai has optimised the back support’s structure to be highly absorbent of shock since this is where people spend most of their time while on board the vehicle.
