2015 Opel Adam S priced from 18,690 euros in Germany

Back in September, Opel launched the Adam S at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Today, the manufacturer announced that the 2015 Opel Adam S will be priced from 18,690 euros including 19% VAT in Germany. If you still don’t know, the Adam S is powered by 1.4-liter Turbo Ecotec petrol engine that delivers 150 hp (110 kW) and 220 Nm of torque.

The engine pushes the small pocket rocket from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.5 seconds, while top speed is 200 km/h (124 mph). Fuel consumption is also impressive, just 6.4 l/100 km. When it comes to design, the Adam S arrives with a new front lip spoiler, side sills, a rear roof spoiler and 17-inch wheels.

As an option, the manufacturer offers 18-inch wheels, which hid the large OPC S brakes. What’s more interesting is that the small hot hatch is available with a choice of 10 exterior colours and four roof combinations available with the “Red ‘n’ Roll” roof design, reserved exclusively for this model.

Inside, there is a black and red steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever wrapped in leather, as well as sport seats and sport pedals. Recaro sport seats are available too and cost 1,300 euros.

The MY2015 Opel Adam S represents the best of the Adam family, made possible by specially made parts and components, a dynamic and sporty design and several sports car-like characteristics. It delivers 150 hp of output and 220 Nm of torque – both enough to render an athlete-like performance.

Thanks to a tuned performance chassis and outstanding performance steering, the Adam S could tackle winding road and corners with ease. When tackling such corners, braking is also as important and Opel recognized this principle by adopting tailored performance brakes for the Adam S.

These brakes feature remarkable braking characteristics as well as a defined pressure point. If customers opt for the available 18-inch “Typhoon” design alloy wheels, Opel would also add in red brake calipers.

To make the Adam S unique from the rest of the members of the Adam family, Opel treated it with side sill moldings, a front lip spoiler, and an extended rear bumper. Accentuating the exterior look of the Adam S are its rear spoiler and chrome-plated tail pipe.

For an athletic feel, Opel threw in sport pedals as standard on the Adam S. On the other hand, the Adam S exclusive Recaro sport seats are available as an option for just EUR1,300.

Jürgen Keller, Executive Director Sales for Marketing & Aftersales Germany, remarked that the Adam S is the most powerful and it sits at the top of the range version of the Adam family. He noted that the vehicle already has the qualities of a true sportsman with its power potential, easy handling, exceptional brakes and precise steering.

Opel ADAM S: Spicy Sports Star Available for Order from Euro 18,690

The order books for the new sporty head of the ADAM family are now open – From early next year, the ADAM S will not only be on show at Opel dealers but also available for purchase. Available from euro 18,690 (RRP including VAT in Germany), the compact powerhouse is in its element on the road and is eager to show a standard feature: Pure driving fun!

“The ADAM S is the powerful top of the range version of our ADAM family,” explained Jürgen Keller, Executive Director Sales, Marketing & Aftersales Germany. “150 hp and 220 Nm torque are already promising credentials; in combination with the easy handling, precise steering and the exceptional brakes we have all the attributes of a true sportsman. The ADAM S is made for winding mountainous roads – every switchback is pure pleasure.”

Elsewhere, there are also numerous individualization possibilities for bodywork, roof and interior that underline the ADAM S’ sporty characteristics and make it a true personalization champion just like its ADAM siblings.

1.4-liter Turbo: Impressive performance and torque

The heart and soul of the new athlete in the ADAM line-up is a 1.4-liter Turbo with 110kW/150 hp and 220 Nm torque on tap in the speed range between 2,750 und 4,500 rpm. The engine is combined with a crisp six-speed transmission with sporty gear ratios, thus ensuring perfect continuity at any speed. In this arrangement, the ADAM S accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 8.5 seconds. Fifth gear acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h is achieved in 7.9 seconds. Propulsion and aerodynamic drag neutralize each other at 210 km/h.

The 1.4-liter Turbo already meets the stringent Euro 6 emission standards and makes do with a mere 5.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle. The dual cam phasing allows for continuously variable valve timing and a turbocharger integrated within the exhaust manifold reduces weight and delivers compact packaging. Numerous weight-saving features include a cast iron block with a hollow frame structure, hollow-cast camshafts and a plastic intake manifold.

ADAM S: Corner king with sporty design

Apart from its motor abilities, the ADAM S likes nothing more than corners. Its preferred terrain is winding country roads where the specially tuned performance chassis and sharp performance steering enhance the driving characteristics. However, the pocket rocket also offers outstanding grip when necessary – tailored performance brakes ensure excellent braking characteristics and a defined pressure point. Red brake calipers can be seen behind the optional 18-inch “Typhoon” design alloy wheels if these are chosen.

The front lip spoiler, side sill moldings and an extended rear bumper characterize the bodywork of the muscular sportsman and distinguish it from its ADAM siblings. Elsewhere, the rear spoiler produces and chrome-plated tail pipe complete the sporty look. The overall feeling is completed by sport pedals and optional, ADAM S exclusive, Recaro sport seats (available for euro 1,300).
