Porsche officially introduced today the 2015 Cayenne Facelift, an updated version of its popular SUV that will hit the US dealerships starting November 1. The new generation of the Cayenne will be available in four versions in the United States: Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo and the all-new Cayenne S E-Hybrid, while Europe will also get the Cayenne S Diesel.
Just like it did on the Panamera Facelift, Porsche will offer a new 3.6-liter V6 biturbo engine that will replace the old V8 on the Cayenne S. This new engine delivers 420 hp (309 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque available from 1,350 to 4,500 rpm – a gain of 20 hp/15 kW and 50 Nm. Bolted to a standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the 2015 Cayenne S Facelift accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds (5.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package), while top speed is 259 km/h or almost 161 mph. Despite being 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Cayenne S, the new model has a NEDC fuel consumption between 9.8 and 9.5 l/100 km (229-223 g/km CO2), which is 1 litre less than the previous V8 engine.
The 2015 Porsche Cayenne Diesel Facelift uses the 3.0-liter V6 that generates 262 hp (193 kW) at 4,000 rpm as well as 580 Nm of torque and using the Tiptronic 8-speed transmission it can push the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.3 seconds (7.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package), while maximum speed is 221 km/h or 137 mph. Fuel consumption is between 6.8 and 6.6 l/100 km, which translates into 179-173 g/km of CO2 emissions.
The 2015 Porsche Cayenne S Diesel Facelift comes with the same 4.2-liter eight-cylinder diesel engine with biturbo charging that develops 385 hp (283 kW) and 850 Nm of torque. As a result, the Cayenne S Diesel sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds (5.3 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package), while top speed is 252 km/h or 156 mph. Fuel consumption is 8 l/100 km and CO2 emissions are 209 g/km.
The most powerful version remains the 2015 Cayenne Turbo Facelift, which uses the 4.8-liter V8 engine in order to deliver 520 hp (382 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 750 Nm of torque from 2,250 and 4,000 rpm. As a result, the Cayenne Turbo accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds (4.4 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package) and has a top speed of 279 km/h or 173 mph. Fuel consumption is 11.5 to 11.2 l/100 km (267-261 g/km CO2).
As you can see from the photos, the 2015 Cayenne Facelift comes with a new design, showing redesigned bi-xenon headlights offered as standard on the base and S models, with four-point LED daytime running lights. Cayenne Turbo models come as standard with LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). Also new is the design of the front body, front wings and bonnet, as well as the airblades.
At the rear, there are updated lights that create a three-dimensional effect but also newly designed tailpipes integrated in the lower sections. An automatically activating boot lid is a standard feature. Inside, there is a new multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles as standard, while the rear seating system is even more comfortable. Seat ventilation can no be ordered as an option for the rear seats.
