2016 Ford Explorer priced from $31,595, Explorer Platinum starts at $53,495

Ford announced that the 2016 Explorer will start at $31,595 in the United States, which means that it will carry the same price tag as the 2015MY. Meanwhile, the 2016 Explorer XLT will cost $34,295, while the Explorer Limited will cost $42,195. The 2016 Ford Explorer Sport will start at $44,195.

As expected, the 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum will be the most expensive version and will start at $53,495. This version is expected to compete with models such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the GMC Acadia. Prices include shipping! 

Ford’s 2016 Explorer will be available with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that generates 270 hp and at least 300 lb-ft of torque. This engine replaces the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder found don the current model. A more potent 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with 290 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque is also available, paired with a six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission.

If you are interested in buying the Explorer Platinum, you’d better know that this version will offer plenty of features such as LED headlamps with signature lightning surrounds, a standard dual-panel moonroof, silver-painted front and rear skid plate elements, integrated exhaust at the rear as well as 20-inch wheels with bright machine face and tarnished dark painted pockets.

The interior arrives with brushed aluminum and satin-finished ash wood, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel featuring for the first time a brushed aluminum Ford oval.

Also a first for a Ford vehicle is the 10-inch digital display supported with analog displays. The 2016 Explorer Platinum is the first Ford vehicle to receive the new 500-watt Sony Audio System with Live Acoustics and Clear Phase technology, which eliminates sound dispersion.
