2016 GMC Sierra All Terrain X ready to hit the dealerships this spring [w/video]

Article by Christian A., on February 1, 2016

The current Sierra All Terrain truck is impressive enough but for the 2016 model-year, GMC has seen it fit to unveil a special edition of the Sierra called the Sierra All Terrain X. The X model takes all that the Sierra has been popular for, and adds in its own flavor to achieve incredible off-road performance as well as breathtaking visuals.

The All Terrain X is a reflection of customer preference, particularly a taste for personalization that’s now prevalent among drivers of off-road vehicles. GMC simply took those preferences, and applied them to the All Terrain X in the manner that it executed the old Sierra Denali.

The result – a limited edition model with the latest in driving and infotainment technology combined with an impressive monochromatic exterior finish. The Sierra All Terrain X’s capabilities are made possible by a set of mechanics and technologies, including an Eaton 4-wheel-drive locking rear differential as well as a Z71 Off-Road suspension package. This package includes Rancho monotube shocks, a high capacity air cleaner and Hill Descent Control Technology.

There is even an inclinometer to keep tabs on the trucks’ altitude when climbing hills. The All Terrain X’s impressive exterior includes a unique grille built into the body. The grille features a body-color surround finish paired with tinted chrome accents. In addition, GMC carries on with the monochromatic aesthetics, the front and rear bumpers are also finished in the body exterior.

Responsible for pushing the truck forward are pairs of 18x8.5-inch black aluminum wheels, attached with off-road 265/65R18SL Mud-Terrain-rated Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac MT tires.

As for its power source, the 2016 Sierra All Terrain X has a monstrous 5.3-liter V8 engine that delivers 365 horsepower -- ideal for the car’s all-season, all-terrain capabilities. The engine is connected to a high performance exhaust system.

Black dominates all of the exterior and interior furnishings of the Sierra All Terrain X limited edition truck: black finish is used in the sports side steps, the bed-mounted sport bar, body side moldings and body color door handles.

Even the exterior mirrors are finished in black. Illumination is provided by high-performance LED lights, while parking safety is further ensured by Rear Park Assist technology. Black is definitely intimidating and adds character to the 2016 Sierra All Terrain X, but five other colors are available. These are, namely, Summit White, Stone Blue Metallic, Iridium Metallic, Crimson Red Tintcoat, Light Steel Gray Metallic.

2016 GMC Sierra All Terrain X is scheduled to roll out to dealerships in spring this year. Everything about the 2016 Sierra 1500 is new and reimagined – from its exterior styling to the various engineering refinements that it has over its previous models. With its new look, the Sierra 1500 sets itself apart from its own predecessors and its own cousins in the GMC fleet.

All models of the 2016 Sierra 1500 feature redesigned LED headlamps styled in the signature GMC lighting. Inside the car is a host of impressive new technologies, including phone integration using GMC’s IntelliLink service. This service supports micro-transactions using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, as well as give drivers access to navigational information and hands-free SMS messaging.
