2017 Audi Q7 starts at $54,800 in the United States

Audi expects that its new 2017 Audi Q7 will become the new benchmark for the luxury SUV segment. With its lightweight body and prominent design, this second generation SUV also sets new standards when it comes to infotainment systems and connectivity. This seven-passenger vehicle comes equipped with the latest in driver assistance technologies.

The main highlight of the 2017 Q7 is that it utilizes a new design language not just on the interior but on the exterior as well. Both the chassis and body are lightweight and they use an interesting mix of materials. For the interior, both drivers and passengers get to enjoy a different driving experience by combining the latest technology with simple and clean lines.

The dash has a double inlay design which can be customized to have interior LED lighting. It also includes the Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System that’s exclusively offered in this segment. All these add to the interior’s luxurious feel. Unlike other systems, Bang & Olufsen gives a musical experience that can only be described as life-like with sound coming from 23 speakers, which include a pair of retractable acoustic lenses.

Power comes from a 23-channel amplifier capable of a 1,920-watt output. A second option is the Bose 3D Sound System which has 19 speakers powered by a 15-channel amplifier with a 558-watt output.

Though the dimensions of the exterior are the same as that of the previous model, the 2017 Q7 has a larger interior capable of seating up to seven passengers. Truly with all the different features available, the Q7 promises to set the trend for other luxury SUVs to follow.

Under the hood, the Q7 3.0T quattro is powered by the 3.0 TFSI engine which is paired with the eight-speed Tiptronic and is capable of delivering 333 horsepower at revolutions between 5,500 and 6,500, with a peak torque of 325 lb.-ft in revolutions between 2,900 and 5,300.

Model year 2017 Audi Q7 Premium starts at $54,800 in the United States, while the Q7 Premium Plus costs $58,800. The 2017 Audi Q7 Prestige will cost you $64,300. Prices exclude destination charges ($950), taxes, title, optional equipment, and dealer charges.

Exterior Design

The 2017 Q7 gives off a unique presence when on the road with its tight design lines and well-sculpted body. This results to a strong yet somewhat lean appearance. Its weight has been reduced by as much as 475 pounds compared to the prior model but towing capacity was increased to as high as 7,700 pounds.

Another highlight on the exterior is the singleframe grille in three-dimensions. Though it has the daytime running lights in LED and the arrow design, the 2017 Q7 will also have the full LED headlights. The LED taillights meanwhile come in a double-arrow design.

At the top of the Q7 are the aluminum roof rails that have ESC integration while the bottom carries the Audi Sport 21-inch 5-twin-spoke design wheels. Its aluminum-optic door blade has the quattro script and the twin-trapezoidal exhaust outlets.

The side mirrors are both power-folding and power-adjustable while the tailgate offers the hands-free closing and opening function.

Interior Design

The interior space has been enlarged not just to seat more passengers but to add space in the legroom, headroom, and even shoulder room. Furthermore, the interior of the 2017 Q7 truly sets the standard for premium comfort and innovative technologies that complement the fit and finish Audi has long been known for.

Additional features of the interior include the newly-designed multifunction three-spoke steering wheel with the double inlay dash design of the Audi A8. A wing design is featured on its wraparound dashboard, which comes with a panoramic air vent strip. For climate control, the model has a four-zone feature as well as a diffuser vent.

Moreover, the gear selector has an ergonomic design. Its second-row seatbacks now have a split tumble-folding 35/30/35 with the option to adjust the seatback angle. The third row seats meanwhile have the standard power 50/50 split-folding with the electric fold and the return functions.

The child seat has five latches, three of which anchor in the second row while the two are in the third row. The luxury package uses Valcona leather with individualized contour front seats that have its own massage and ventilation functions. The same package can be extended by asking for the Alcantara headliner with soft-closing doors.

As with any model from Audi, the panoramic sunroof is standard and has tilting and sliding features. Ambient lighting is easily customized with 900 color combinations. The climate control systems come in the standard three-zone but can be increased to a four-zone automatic.

The Audi Q7 sets new standards with respect to the latest MMI, infotainment technologies, and driver assistance features:

Available Audi virtual cockpit features a large, 12.3-inch display that delivers vibrant color at 60 frames per second with NVIDIA® quad core processing power. The virtual cockpit helps make viewing and navigating via the large Google Map images supported with 4G LTE (where available) easier on the drivers’ eyes. It also allows for a better view of the road ahead via the full map display and through its placement directly in front of the driver. The virtual cockpit is fully controllable via the steering wheel as well as the MMI controls on the center console
Available full-color head-up display, projecting relevant driving information directly in the driver’s field of vision
In the case of an impending accident, Audi pre sense® basic can intervene to prepare the vehicle for impact. This process includes closing the side windows and panoramic sunroof, pretensioning the front safety belts, and preparing the brake system for a quicker response during an unexpected or emergency maneuver
Standard Audi pre sense city detects cornering and stationary vehicles as well as pedestrians, at speeds of up to 52 mph and initiates full braking when a potential collision is detected.
Available Audi pre sense plus (part of Driver Assistance package) supplements Audi pre sense city with a collision warning, as well as emergency braking up to 137 mph.
Audi pre sense rear (standard on Premium Plus and Prestige trims) helps monitor the traffic following the vehicle and takes similar actions to Audi pre sense basic.
Vehicle exit assist can help prevent accidents with a side assist warning light which blinks and notifies the driver when vehicles or cyclists are approaching from behind as the vehicle doors are opened.
Rear cross traffic alert supports the driver when reversing out of a perpendicular parking space. Indicator arrows in the MMI® display can inform the driver of approaching vehicles, and in critical situations, a warning tone and brake jolt can be applied, prompting the driver to stop the vehicle.
In the event that a sharp maneuver is needed to avoid a collision, collision avoidance assist supports the driver when turning into the adjacent lane
Turn assist can assess the risk of oncoming traffic, when making a left-hand turn at an intersection (when the vehicle is stopped or under 7 mph and turn signal is activated)
Optional Adaptive cruise control with stop & go and traffic jam assist automatically maintains distance from the vehicle in front, including braking and accelerating to help maintain a set distance. Between 0-37 mph, traffic jam assist combines acceleration, braking and steering guidance, which can take the stress out of driving in congested traffic.
The available Bang & Olufsen® 3D Advanced Sound System option creates a previously unexperienced feeling of spaciousness and audio playback within the vehicle. The interior feels acoustically larger as music can be reproduced in its most original and intended form:
Specifics:
23 speakers including Acoustic Lens Technology (ALT)
23-channel BeoCore amplifier with ICEpower® technology
1,920 watts and 5.1 Surround Sound
In addition to the traditional MMI® scroll wheel capabilities, MMI all-in-touch (MMI® navigation plus package) adds ‘Menu’ and ‘Back’ functions, two touch keys for horizontal menu control logic, eight storage buttons for radio station presets, and the ability to move the map or zoom in/out using swipe or pinch motions respectively

Available air suspension equipped cars also include, an Allroad setting that raises the ride height by 25mm and an Offroad/Lift setting that raises the ride height by 60mm
