VIP customers get first look at the 2017 Bentley Bentayga First Edition

Article by Andrew Christian, on November 18, 2015

A select group of VIP customers has been treated to a first look at Bentley Motors’ new Bentayga First Edition, as only 608 examples of which will be produced. Providing a glimpse into what the Bentayga can do are its exterior and interior specs. For the exterior, the Bentayga First Edition is offered in just 10 available colors and comes with the Union Jack badging.

It features illuminated treadplates and 22-inch black painted and polished wheels. Just like what can be expected of any Bentley model, the Bentayga First Edition is extremely luxurious inside, thanks to ‘Diamond within Diamond’ quilting, bespoke ambient lighting and Union Jack fascia badging.

Likewise, the cabin features distinct contrast stitching and embroidered seats. Additionally, the SUV features extraordinary detailing in metal, wood and leather as well as the tolerances between elements of trim. Serving as the core of the Bentayga First Edition is an all-new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine that develops 608 PS (600 bhp / 447kW) of output and 900 Nm (663 lb. ft) of torque.

Interestingly, Bentley is producing only 608 examples of the special edition in reference to the metric power output of the Bentayga. These V-12 numbers are enough to send the Bentayga First Edition accelerating from zero to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds and from nil to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. With a max speed of 187 mph (301 km/h), the Bentayga could lay claim to being the most powerful and fastest SUV in the world.

Kevin Rose, Board Member for Sales and Marketing, Aftersales, described the First Edition as the ultimate expression of the Bentayga’s spirit. He noted that the special edition SUV comes with a horde of striking features that celebrate the Bentayga’s pioneering nature and abilities. Each new owner of the special edition SUV will have the privilege to own their distinct Bentayga Edition Breitling Watches, which is available in three high-performance special editions – Emergency, Cockpit B50 and Chronomat.

The Emergency edition features an integrated dual frequency personal locator beacon while the Cockpit B50 variant has an electronic multifunction caliber. On the other hand, the automatic Chronomat 38 model is designed for women. These three Bentley Bentayga Edition chronographs all feature an officially chronometer-certified Breitling movement and an original design with an all-black case.

These watches also feature a black mother-of-pearl dial and bronze-toned hands that match the livery of the first Bentayga. They also come with a rubber strap that matches certain key interior elements. Bentayga customers could later avail of these chronographs as optional equipment.
