Article by Christian Andrei, on July 27, 2011

The latest sculpture of famous artist Dante -- the third piece in his Iconic Sports Car series -- will debut in the U.S. at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California next month. According to the artist, he is “delighted” to go to Pebble Beach to experience this event, which attracts the most significant collectors and the finest automobiles worldwide.

Dante said that the iconic car sculptures are his tribute to the “men who made the original cars: they were artists."

From August 18 to 21, a Design by Dante tent will be open to visitors on Peter Haye Hill. It will be positioned beside the Concours site in RetroAuto Plaza, amidst other Concours sponsors like The Wall Street Journal, Porsche and Infinity. Dante will be present to meet up with the special visitors and the media.

The unveiling of Dante’s latest sculpture, a Ferrari 250 GTO, will coincide with a special display of rare Ferrari 250 GTO cars that Concours gathered from everywhere in the world. Dante said that he decided to come to Pebble Beach partly because he wanted to take part in the celebration of the Ferrari 250 GTO (his “favorite car of all time”) and the deluge of original cars to be displayed.

Based in Bern, Switzerland, the artist known as Dante Rubli has been creating wonderful works of art for a quarter of a century. He has managed to make customized sculptures and furniture. He even created automobiles for collectors and celebrities across the world.

Dante makes use of different materials that range from wood and steel to platinum and gold. Through the Iconic Sports Car series, Dante is able to offer three scales, where each can be delivered in white gold, gold, silver, plus a host of other luxury finishes. Only 10 pieces will be manufactured for each of the distinct design in this series. Currently, the series has the Ferrari 250 GTO, Aston-Martin DB5, and Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.

According to Dante, the iconic car sculptures he created are his way of honoring the people who made the original cars as they were indeed artists. As part of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, there will be a Design by Dante tent starting August 18, Thursday, and up to August 21, Sunday.

It will be located on Peter Haye Hill which is just beside the Concours site that is in RetroAuto Plaza. Other Concours sponsors expected include, among others, Infiniti, Porsche, and The Wall Street Journal. It will be here that Dante will unveil his latest creation which is the Ferrari 250 GTO.

This reveal will also happen at the same time as the rare Ferrari 250 GTO models will be up for display as well. This exhibit is just one of the many that Concours gathered. Dante added that one of the main reasons why he attended Pebble Beach is to celebrate the Ferrari 250 GTO and other original cars being exhibited. It remains to be his all-time favorite car, he continued. In fact, during the event, Dante will be personally present to meet the special guests and the media.
