Acura auctioned one-off ZDX coupe in 2010 for MusiCares charity

An auction was held in February 2010 for a customized, one-of-a-kind 2010 Acura ZDX four- door sports coupe for the benefit of MusiCares -- the official GRAMMY Foundation charity. The bids were submitted on eBay ( through February 8, 2010. The minimum bid started at $45,000.

The vehicle was equipped with a set of Acura accessory 20-inch diameter wheels/tires. It came with custom leather seats and floor mats that have the GRAMMY logo embossed on them. Music enthusiasts particularly liked this ZDX because its interior has the signatures of the artists who were set to perform at the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala in January 2010. The all-new ZDX was developed, designed, and built in North America.

It was actually the first vehicle to have its styling done in the dedicated Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California, from start to finish. The ZDX body came with generous curves, deeply sculpted shoulders, and bold character lines. It was equipped with a new 3.7-liter VTEC V-6 that delivers 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The ZDX featured technologies that enhance the driving experience.

It had the top-of-the-class Acura/ELS Surround 435-watt, 10-speaker Premium Audio System, which was tuned by no other than Grammy award-winning producer and engineer Elliott Scheiner. MusiCares ( was founded in in 1989 by The Recording Academy. It offers a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times that they need it.

Its services cover a wide variety of financial, medical and personal emergencies. All recipients are assured that they will be treated with integrity and confidentiality. In addition, MusiCares seeks to turn the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that affect the health and welfare of the music community. As of 2010, Acura had 270 dealerships in the U.S. Its lineup back then was composed of six models.

They are the RL luxury performance sedan, all-new ZDX four-door sports coupe, the TSX sports sedan, the turbocharged RDX luxury crossover SUV, the TL performance luxury sedan, and the award-winning MDX luxury sport utility vehicle.
