The latest Audi A3 Black Edition versions are unveiled this month to enter the famous 3-door, 5-door Sportback and Cabriolet lineups. Merging dark and brooding appearances with an outstanding spec that takes the top S line variant as its pattern, the latest restricted run A3 lineup can be prearranged now with beginning price tag of £22,215 OTR to £27,395 OTR, and will arrive in the UK early in February.
To set the pace, Black Edition versions highlight a front grill that has been de-chromed and, in the Cabriolet variants, black surrounds for the roll bars and the shoulder line. 18-inch S line design alloy rims with an individual dark titanium finish carry on the scheme in all three versions, and in the hatchback a privacy glass comes across from the B-pillar.
For total impact, these highlights are merged with Brilliant Black paint finish at no extra cost, but the stylish no-cost choice of Ibis White and the extra cost metallic options Phantom Black, Misano Red and Monza Silver are likewise offered.
They may provide a lower silhouette in some areas, but the A3 Black Editions also make their presence quite apparent in others, courtesy of their typical fit Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps in addition to their sporting S line body styling treatments.
In the interior, the Black Editions are distinguished by high gloss Piano black inlays, and the already wide-ranging S line spec is improved by a high yield Bose speaker system, acoustic rear parking sensors and a steering wheel that is exclusive flat-bottomed multi-function.
Available also in the S line pack are sports suspension, part leather-upholstered sports seats, electronic climate control and an Audi Concert audio system with single CD player and MP3 connectivity. In Cabriolet Black Edition versions, offered solely with a black acoustic hood, it also comes with fully automatic hood function and a wind deflector.
The latest Black Edition spec is offered in combination with the 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline powerplants (160PS and 200PS) and the two highly developed 2.0 TDI common rail powerplants (140PS and 170PS).
It brings a premium of £905 above the corresponding S line version in each case which, when taking into consideration the additional equipment it offers, represents a buyer saving of £675 on the A3 Black Edition and £650 on the A3 Cabriolet Black Edition.
