Audi will celebrate its 100th birthday with a horde of 50 events, with the most significant event being the gala festival in Ingolstadt on July 16. Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, is said to be joining the event. After the gala festival, a couple of days later, Audi will stage a special soccer tournament dubbed the Audi Cup.
Then on the 29th and 30th of July, four outstanding teams will challenge each other in the Allianz Arena in Munich. The teams include AC Milan, Boca Juniors, FC Bayern and Manchester United.
There will also be classic car rallies and trade events together with special exhibits at the Audi mobile museum. Previews of the latest Audis that will make an appearance in the near future will also be part of the celebration. Audi will further expand the derivatization in the B segment in the present year with the A5 Sportback.
The model which has attracted the most customers who are loyal to the Audi brand is the A4. A lot of them want to move up the scale and at the same time coming up with their own special characteristic and the A5 Sportback is exactly what they are searching for. A true groundbreaker, the A5 comes with a radical concept that combines practicality with artistic design. Audi promised also to showcase the next-generation A8 which it says will make no little stir in the industry and among fans. The new generation A8 will represent the carmaker's brand values, namely sportiveness, progress and sophistication.
The company claims that the new A8 will be the sportiest luxury sedan in its segment, with an interior that will raise the bar for design and comfort. It will come with incomparable precision and quality. The A8 is special because it played a significant role, more than any other vehicle in Audi's arsenal, in the growth of the Audi brand. The A8 will be revealed in a special occasion in the latter part of November this year.
The unveiling of the A8 will be followed by the introduction of the A1 in 2010. The A1 will be the first in a new class of diminutives, a truly premium car that proudly wears the Audi emblem. The target customers of the A1 will be young buyers who, through Audis range of products, will remain loyal to the Audi brand for a lifetime. The A3, the model which created the premium compact class, opened the way for the A1 in the mid 90s. Audi wishes to repeat that downwards in the premium SUV range with the Audi Q3 beginning in 2011. The Q3 will be produced at the facilities of SEAT in Martorell, Spain.
