Audi remains the leader in China and overtakes Bmw, Mercedes-Benz

Article by Christian Andrei, on June 5, 2012

If Mercedes-Benz is the leader in U.S. luxury-vehicle sales, it appears that Audi conquered the Chinese market in May as its new-car sales rose 44.2 percent to 36,278 cars last month. Bmw sales rose 30.8 percent to 25,500 while Mercedes-Benz keeps the third place with 16,529 units.

Moreover, Audi widened its lead in the first five months of the year in China and according to the latest reports, the German manufacturer sold 160,562 vehicles, while Bmw sold 125,800 vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz keeps the third place with 82,534 in the same period. Although this is only the fifth month of the year, we might say that Audi will keep its first position as the difference is way too big between the first and second positions.

For those who don’t know, Audi has quite a plan to boost its sales as it aims to achieve annual sales of 2 million cars by 2020 and become the leader. Back in 2011, Audi sold 1.3 million vehicles, while Bmw sold 1.38 million cars and SUVs. Mercedes-Benz sold 1.26 million.
