Audi announced today that for the 5th year in a row it will air a :60 Super Bowl advertisement in the first quarter of the big game on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. For this year, the German manufacturer decided to use its signature LED headlights as the center stage along with the new 2013 Audi S7 sedan.

Still, the story remains undisclosed as Audi wants to surprise us all. For those who don’t know (including us), the Audi LED headlights are the closest re-creation of daylight available.

If the traditional lights need 0.2 seconds to engage, the LEDs are immediately activated making driving safer, faster. immediately activated making driving safer, faster. Regarding the 2013 Audi S7, this new model is powered by the 4.0 liter V8 TFSI delivering 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque.

“With LED, there’s no mistaking an Audi. Since pioneering the technology nearly ten years ago, LED lights have established the Audi persona have become one of the most recognizable features on the road,” said Scott Keogh, Chief Marketing Officer, Audi of America. “Like our LEDs, this year’s Super Bowl spot will be unmistakably Audi.”

Exterior Design

In a word, the Audi S7 Sportback’s design of the exterior is flawless. The dynamically tensioned line on the roof for example gives it that coupe-like quality. By combining a long engine hood, short overhangs, and long wheelbase, it results in perfect proportions. When driving on the highway, an extending spoiler comes out from the rear hatch which enhances stability.

With overall length at 16.34 feet (4,980 millimeters), this five-door model has some eye-catching but subtle details that strengthen why it is the top of the model series. These details are seen on the bumper in the front, single-frame grille, sills, side mirrors, tailpipes, diffuser, and rear bumper. In addition, the body comes with the V8 T and S badges.

Audi revealed that for the exterior, a total of 9 colors will be offered, two of which are exclusive selections which are crystal effect Prism Silver and crystal effect Estoril Blue.

Interior Design

The athletic characteristic that is observed on the exterior can be seen on the interior as well through various details like the red ring placed on the start-stop button and aluminum shift paddles as well as the aluminum strip located on the S-tronic selector lever.

Helping with this particular quality too are the S7 logo on the door sill trims and the S badges. While the pedals and footrest are composed of stainless steel, the MMI operating system’s soft keys are finished in aluminum. The S sport seats allow for height adjustment. Fitted as standard are the power lumbar supports, and the backrests have the S logo embossed to it. There is the option though, of having regular seats or comfort units.

For the decorative inlays, there are different options as well like layered Beaufort oak, natural fin grain ash, carbon, and aluminum. The seat upholstery will come in either goa beige, lunar silver, and black, though these same color choices can also be used for the carpet, instrument panel, and headlining. Regarding the seat upholstery, what’s standard is the mix of Alcantara with Pear Nappa with Valcona and Milano as options.
