Denza, the new joint venture brand started by Daimler and Chinese car market BYD Auto, unveiled its first creation – the Denza New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Concept. The new Denza NEV Concept is a full electric battery-driven model and was designed to be sold and build in China. According to CEO Lian Yubo, the new Denza NEV Concept features an ergonomic design and some futuristic innovations.
The rear seating area was designed in order to feel as much as possible like a lounge area, while the ambient light system runs all throughout the cabin making the night driving more pleasant. The designed is dominated by the chromed front grille, but don’t expect to see it on the production version. Moreover, the car features rear-hinged rear doors.
According to Denza, a production version of the NEV Concept is slated for release in 2013. “Even before the birth of DENZA, Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., Ltd. (BDNT) has created a very special ‘first’: When Daimler and BYD made their partnership official in the spring of 2010, they founded the first joint venture in China dedicated solely to New Energy Vehicle. The Joint Venture is making extremely positive progress with the first prototypes of the future production model already out on the streets,” said Ulrich Walker, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BDNT and Chairman and CEO of Daimler Northeast Asia. “We are very much on track with the plans for our DENZA vehicle.”
