Sector111 a.k.a. the the industry leader in aftermarket performance parts & service for the Lotus Elise, Exige and the Ariel Atom, announced today that it has been named the exclusive importer of the BAC Mono. For those who don’t know, the BAC Mono has a power to weight ratio of 520 bhp / ton, exceeding that of the Bugatti Veyron. This car can acceleration from naught to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds, to 100 mph (160 km/h) in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 170 mph or 273 km/h. According to the official statement, the car uses a normally-aspirated 2.3-litre Cosworth engine mounted longitudinally and coupled to an electronically-controlled, paddle-shift, six-speed sequential Hewland transmission with limited-slip differential.
The engine delivers a total output of 280 bhp. Moreover, the car uses AP Racing provided the braking mechanism, OZ Racing supplied the bespokeHRT alloy wheels, Kumho gave the purpose-developed, street-legal track tires and GEMS vehicle electronics and instrumentation. Regarding the price, the BAC Mono is available in the UK at £79,950 or $124,570. The BAC Mono will be available in the United States in 2012 but if you want one you’d better hurry up as less than 12 vehicles will be available.

Just like the DTM concept race car, the MONO is also built with carbon fibre, plus the same tubular steel safety cell with FIA-tested rollover safety system.
With its 520 bhp/ton, the single seater racer has in fact, exceeded Bugatti Veyron’s power to weight ratio. The MONO has a top speed of up to 170 mph and can run from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds or 0-100 mph in 6.7 seconds. This super car is powered by a 280bhp, 2.3L Cosworth naturally aspirated engine unit. It also comes with a 6-speed sequential Hewland transmission with limited slip differential and paddle shifters. For optimum balance, they also equipped the racecar with aerodynamically designed push rod suspension and adjustable Sachs Racing dampers.
Meanwhile, GEMS took care of MONO’s impressive electronic system and instrument panel to help drivers keep their eye on the road. BAC also used Willan’s 6-point racing harness for superior safety. For better security, they come up with a detachable steering wheel just in case the car is left outside the parking (aside from the locker to store the helmet).
MONO’s seat is fixed permanently to optimise the weight distribution (48:52 front-rear) and also for the driver’s protection. Still, the pedal box and steering wheel height can be adjusted to make room for a person of any height, shape and size. Meanwhile, an F1 racing profile seat is also available as an alternative. For its wheels, the MONO comes with OZ Racing’s bespoke HRT alloys, which is a perfect match to Kumho’s road legal track tyres. It even has AP Racing’s braking system to go with it for a powerful performance.
