BAIC shows the C90L Concept at the Auto China 2012

BAIC’s stand at the Beijing Motor Show features a C90L Concept car powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine. This model is quite big with a length of 5.2 meters. Sources say that the BAIC C90L was initially based on a "German" design. However, the final design work was completed with the help of BAIC’s designers and Italian styling house Fioravanti.

Sources said that it’s intentional that the rear three quarter view and the semi-fastback tail appear “British." BAIC has set a goal to become the first "premium Chinese" luxury brand. The C90L signals the start of the long process to achieve this target. BAIC is expected to soon offer another Fioravanti-guided concept saloon.

BAIC also plans to launch the E150, a new domestic model that was created at home. It is a scaled-down version of the outgoing Mercedes-Benz B-Class. The E150 REEV, a range-extender electric version, is the most interesting one of all. It comes with a 795cc two-cylinder engine, which is used as a generator to back up the 13kWh battery.

It has a limited top speed of 70mph. The BAIC C51X concept SUV was one of the most remarkable domestic offerings at the Beijing show but there isn’t much known about the vehicle. It is offered alongside the BV40, which is a more basic and more conventional version of the off-roader.
