BCA online sales volumes for 2010 break 100k barrier for the first time

Article by Christian A., on January 9, 2011

Details of BCA’s online sales volumes for 2010 have recently been released. BCA said that more than 100,000 units were sold in the UK, setting a record. In Europe, a further 89,000 units were transacted online by BCA, getting the company very near to achieving 200,000 annual online sales.

In the UK alone, it sold 105,863 vehicles via online channels, with the majority selling via Live Online. Significant volumes were also recorded on Buy Online and manufacturer online auctions.

Launched in the fourth quarter, Bid Now and Buy Now saw volumes go up sharply with a flurry of activity over the Christmas period – marking the first time that BCA sold cars online during the festivities. Between Christmas Eve and the New Year, the company offered over 500 cars in the Buy Now online sales format.

The BCA website attracted up to 2,900 professional trade buyers at peak times. More than 40 major vendors contributed stock for the Christmas period from all market sectors. A 2006 Renault Megane cabriolet that sold for £3,900 was the final online sale of 2010 for BCA.

One buyer set a speedy precedent by buying a car through the BCA Buy Now Sale, paying for it and collecting it from BCA Bedford within only 12 minutes on Christmas Eve. There was also a purchase made only 21 minutes before Christmas day itself. On New Years Day, vehicles continued to be sold by BCA.
