Bentley opens showroom in Lyon, its 33rd one in Europe

Article by Anita Panait, on January 25, 2012

Bentley has opened its 33rd showroom in Europe and third dealership in France, showcasing the marque’s rapid growth in the high luxury car market. The carmaker expects its latest showroom in Lyon to attract buyers from France’s Rhône-Alpes Region.

The Lyon showroom will take care of both sales and after-sales and will be operated by Passion Automobiles Prestige dealership group owned by the SOGESA Group. The new showroom underscores Bentley’s comeback, with sales returning to pre-recession figures. The new showroom also underscores the company’s strategy to broaden its presence in both new and established markets.

Bentley is expanding the showroom this year to provide the company’s signature hospitality and customer service. Once completed, customers could expect impressive showrooms – one for new car sales and another for Bentley Pre-Owned.

Currently on display is Bentley’s full model range. Customers could also choose the features, colors and materials for their Bentleys. To be credited for the Lyon showroom is Joël Schmidt, the founder of luxury car distributor SOGESA. The dealer group is known for quality and service in the luxury car segment, thus receiving very high customer satisfaction scores.

Welcoming the partnership with SOGESA, Guillaume Chabin, Bentley’s Regional Director Europe commented: “Undoubtedly the power, performance and luxury of our models are a key part of our success but so too is the authenticity of the Bentley name.

With our flagship Bentley Mulsanne and the second generation Bentley Continental GT and GTC - which are now also available with a 4.0 Litre V8 engine as well as the unmatched 6.0 W12 - we have a strong position. We look forward to working with the team at Bentley Lyon, whose understanding of the prestige sports car market makes them ideal partners for us.”

The entry of the new Bentley Continental GT V8 coupé and GTC V8 convertible shocks the high end sports car segment with their exceptional power and amazing emissions standards. The new Bentley twin turbocharged V8 engine gives you up to 507 PS at running at 6000 revolutions per minute. The 4.0 L engine also has a peak torque of 487 lb ft when you are running from 1700 revolutions per minute to 5000 revolutions per minute. That translates to effortless performance and exhilarating power delivery that all Bentleys are known for.

The obviously superior engine is paired with the close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission. The new transmission gives you acceleration times of less than five seconds and maximum speeds of more than 180 mph.

Simultaneously, the new V8 Bentley Continental has the awesome fuel efficiency and very low carbon dioxide emissions. It can go for more than 500 miles with just a single full tank. The new V8 Bentley Continental addresses the car brand's commitment to the environment in producing a powertrain that gives you 40 percent more fuel savings and lesser CO2 emissions.

Further, the V8 engine has variable displacement as well as an engine management system to guarantee a seamless switch to V4 from V8 mode when you have light throttle load. The V8 further features low friction bearings, high pressure direct injection, innovative and efficient turbo charger packaging, thermal management, and energy recuperation using the charging system.

The engine has a recognizable growl setting it apart from other Bentleys. The new engine will be available as a pair of models: the Bentley Continental GTC and the Bentley Continental GT. Both of these models will have a matrix grille with a shiny black color and a chrome center bar and frame. You will find the red Bentley 'B' badge there as well as black lower front bumper. Each section of the lower bumper will be framed by strakes that have the same color as the body.
