Bentley’s Power on Ice driving experience will be revived next year, providing opportunity for drivers to develop advanced techniques under the tutelage of four-time World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen.
Power on Ice 2014, slated from February 6 to March 6, 2014 in Finland, will feature the debut of the new Bentley Flying Spur sedan, which will take on challenging snow and ice circuits especially designed by honorary ‘Bentley Boy’ Kankkunen, who has under his belt 23 world rally victories. He also managed to break twice the world ice speed driving record using Bentley’s Continental cars.
The new Flying Spur merges comfort and luxury with the dynamism brought by Bentley’s 6.0-liter W12 twin turbocharged engine that provides up to 616 bhp (625 PS), allowing it to achieve a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).
Touted as the fastest luxury four door production car in the world, the Flying Spur boasts of a state-of-the-art all-wheel drive system that constantly adjusts the levels of power to the front and rear wheels depending on available traction. This ensures that the Flying Spur provides the optimal grip no matter what the road or weather conditions are.
Kankkunen remarked that the Flying Spur will be an “excellent addition” to the Power on Ice experience, adding that they are looking forward to showing what the ultra-luxury sedan could do. Joining the Flying Spur 2014 is a selection of Bentley Continental GT coupes powered by the carmaker’s 6.0-liter W12 and 4.0-liter V8 engines.
Kankkunen will be collaborating with Bentley’s factory-trained driving experts who will provide in-depth instructions designed to help drivers widen their range of driving skills. Guests are also entitled to a four-day adventure in Finland that will have them billeted at the exclusive and luxurious Ruka Peak resort, which is just 60 km from the edge of the Arctic Circle.
