Bentley has launched a range of winter accessories consisting of approved winter tires, socks and snow chains. Most models of the British automotive producer come with all-wheel-drive but in the cold season, it’s useless without the proper accessories.
Bentley offers a complete lineup of winter tires that are sized from 19 to 21 inches and are appropriate for the new Continental GT and GTC, Continental Supersports and Flying Spur and Mulsanne models, and are also a good fit even for the older GT and GTC models.
Furthermore, the range also features Autosock, which is considered an alternative for snow chains. Bentley also offers proper snow chains that utilize a Spikes-Spider system with a central locking hub that raises their flexibility.
Commenting on the new range of Bentley winter accessories, Steve O’Hara, After Sales Director, said: “In common with all Bentley accessories, the Bentley winter range has been tested exhaustively by Bentley engineers and is backed by a full Bentley warranty. Customers can therefore drive with complete confidence, whatever the road conditions or the weather.”
With a design team led by none other than Director of Design Dirk van Braeckel, Bentley has managed to come out with the GT coupe, a model that while clearly has been inspired by the brand’s excellent tradition, also comes with a more sculpted and contemporary body created using the most innovative of production technologies. As a result, the integrity of the body and its quality follows that highest of standards.
Having an appearance that is bolder than before, it still has the matrix radiator grille that Bentley is known for but this time has been made more upright. It still has the standard 4-lamp format but the headlamp comes with a new design where it has that jewel-like detail like the daylight-running lamps with LEDs. At the back, there is that trademarked floating LED lamps that extend at the wings’ corners and thus able to highlight the purposeful stance of this new coupe in addition to its width.
Its bootlid meanwhile has been designed with the double horseshoe theme similar to the Mulsanne. Having the flared elliptical exhaust tailpipes on the other hand puts emphasis on the sporting qualities of the new Continental GT.
While fitted as standard in the new Continental GT is the alloy 20-inch wheels, Bentley is offering for the Continental range a chance to upgrade to the 21-inch version, a first for this particular range. In terms of design, three styles are made available with one being the five-spoke 20-inch wheels and the other two the 21-inch split-trim Sports and the Elegant variants.
All the wheels will have various paint and chrome finish. An interesting fact about the new Continental GT coupe is that the shape of its body has been made even more aerodynamic. This is a result of the extensive analysis done on the wind tunnel. Working with a wide range of underbody refinements like the aerodynamic aids and wheel arch, the model’s coefficient of drag has been lowered to Cd at 0.33.
Additionally, the lift present at the front axle and the rear one has been lowered as well to ensure better stability when driving at higher speeds. It is also interesting to take note of the boot lid and the front wings as the two have been made using the Aluminium Super Forming technology. What this method does is to heat to almost 500 degrees Celsius the aluminum panels and then shape them using air pressure.
Since only one sheet of aluminum is used, no welding is necessary and there are no seams. By utilizing the newest in body construction methods, every region of the exterior design gives it that highly-defined and crisp feature lines. In addition, there are the rear haunches and power lines first observed in the 1950 R-Type Continental. However, this time it comes with sharper radii and thus has a unique surface which brings with it the coach feel to a coupe.
