It’s highly likely that Bentley will launch a new upscale SUV, which is powered by a 12-cylinder engine, in 2014. Bentley had gotten a boost from its highest sales since the worldwide economic crisis in 2008. Bentley wants this model to be positioned higher than any SUV presently available on the market. This means that it is expected to have a starting price of higher than $140,000.
The Wall Street Journal reports that at a recent press event Bentley boss Wolfgang Duerheimer asserted that Volkswagen Group’s upper management will make the final decision within the first three months of 2012.
He also said that this decision is likely to be “positive.” This plan bodes well for a new Lamborghini SUV, which is on the cards for the brand’s third model line, according to Lambo CEO Stephan Winkelmann. In the first quarter of 2012, Lamborghini is expected to also make its decision about this new SUV. This means that the announcement would most probably be made at 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Another possibility is a new super-sedan that’s styled similarly to the 2008 Estoque concept car. Bentley is preparing to launch a new SUV amid the high demand for sporty soft-roaders from growing markets like China, Russia, and India.
This means that a high-performance SUV from Lamborghini is becoming likelier. Duerheimer has also announced that Bentley has plans to offer more variants of the best-selling Continental GT and GTC models. Bentley is expected to unveil a new V-8 option for the Continental range at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The new Bentayga from Bentley manages to combine everyday usability with effortless performance and unmatched luxury. It has the best auto cabin in the world having precision levels that are unparalleled. Everything is an embodiment of contemporary British luxury. This is not limited to the detailing of the leather, wood, and metal, but even the accurate tolerances in between the trim’s elements.
All of this was made possible with the remarkable skill and craft shown by the brand’s partner in Crewe. That the Bentayga has a style that is clearly Bentley is not a surprise given that it was designed, then engineered, and even handcrafted, in Crewe. With the excellent sculptures mixed in with timeless and elegant execution, it is able to reach a distinct balance between confidence and athleticism.
Everywhere in the vehicle the design language of the brand is obvious from the large matrix grille to the four round headlamps which use LEDs. It can even be seen in the powerful haunches and unique power line. Indeed, it has within it the driving experience that is uniquely Bentley with a host of advanced technological features. In addition to being the most luxurious, most powerful, and even the most exclusive, it is equipped with the new powertrain making it one of the world’s fastest SUVs.
Specifically, the Bentayga is powered by the 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine and with 12 cylinders, it is able to combine refinement and efficiency with power and torque levels that are super high. Output is 608 PS (600 bhp / 447kW) with torque coming in at 900 Nm (663 lb. ft).
Maximum speed is 187 mph (301 km/h) with acceleration form 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h) in around 4.0 seconds. Bentley Motors chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Dürheimer says that the Bentayga can be considered as the Bentley version of SUVs as it is able to redefine what luxury is in the SUV segment.
It also delivers on the unique Bentley experience no matter what the condition is. This is due mainly to the unequalled attention to detail given, the advanced technology, and the ability to go anywhere.
