Bentley chief Wolfgang Dürheimer previously estimated that the automaker will decide the fate of a proposed SUV before 2011 ends but he says now that it will still be a “matter of weeks” before the final decision.
He explained, “The end of the year was . . . very crowded.” It’s believed that it isn’t a board approval that Dürheimer is waiting for. He asserts that the company is already “quite advanced” in the designing process.
He said that the market feedback and the time he has spent on examining the situation convinced him that this product has to be pushed further since it has the potential to help Bentley grow. He pointed out that it will be a vital vehicle for the Russian, Chinese, and American markets. This SUV is described to be “on the large side” but won’t be a Hummer, according to Caranddriver.
It’s almost a sure thing that this SUV can be very customizable and buyers can choose from a broad variety of interior materials and from four- or five-passenger configurations.
Dürheimer said that driving it is as comfortable as being a passenger in it. At the back, it will be spacious and will have “good” air conditioning, and “everything” that one needs. In other words, the back will be “a comfort zone.” It’s likely to be powered by a W-12 engine but it’s also possible to be equipped with a V-8–powered base model. There’s also the added option of the plug-in hybrid system.
The new Bentley Bentayga is a dream combination of pure elegance, performance and practicality. Bentayga’s W12 powertrain makes it faster and more powerful than all other SUVs, while also being the most prestigious. With its cutting-edge technological features, the feel of the unadulterated Bentley driving experience is definitely on hand.
Company's SUV displays the true Bentley style, which is evident from all angles, starting with the four round LED headlights and prominent matrix grille to the characteristic power line and robust flanks. Developed and finished in Crewe, it is classically sculptured and refined, equally blending dynamism and assertiveness.
Interiorly, this high-end SUV also epitomises unmatched modern British elegance, featuring metal, wood and leather detailing executed with total precision under the most stringent standards. Bentley’s Crewe associates deserve credit for their outstanding workmanship in perfecting the Bentayga’s cabin.
A completely new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine powers the Bentayga. A supremely potent motor, this 12-cylinder unit outputs extreme power and torque with refined efficiency. By producing 608 PS (600bhp/447kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb. ft.), this new SUV accelerates from 0-60 mph in only 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) and reaches up to 187 mph (301 km/h), making it the swiftest and most powerful SUV ever.
It is a true “Bentley of SUVs,” as Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, asserts. He adds that the Bentayga sets new luxury standards in the SUV world and offers a true Bentley experience regardless of environment, because of its superior detailing, its adaptability anywhere and its innovative technology. The Bentayga is Bentley’s ticket to the future.
