Ok, we have to admit that we already knew a Gran Coupe version of the BMW 4-Series was coming but today, the first patent drawings emerged on the Web. Set to take on cars such as the Audi A5 Sportback, the new BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will probably be introduced in March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Regarding the design, the front and rear design is the same seen on the 4-Series Coupe, but the model is expected to use a longer wheelbase in order to offer more space for the rear passengers. Just like the coupe, we expect to see the 4-Series Gran Coupe in three equipment combinations – Sport Line, Modern Line and Luxury Line - but also with a stylish M Sport Package for those who want even more.
Under the hood, we will see only engines that use the BMW Twin Power Turbo technology. This means that the 435i Gran Coupe will use a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line petrol engine rated at 306 hp (225 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The 428i Gran Coupe will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine developing 245 hp (180 kW) and a maximum torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).
The 420d Gran Coupe will get a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 184 hp, while the 430d Gran Coupe will get the same engine with 258 hp (190 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. The 435d Gran Coupe will be the most powerful diesel-powered model as it will use a 3.0-liter diesel engine delivering 313 hp (230 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque.
