Bmw has now surpassed the two millionth car mark in the UK

Article by Christian Andrei, on October 5, 2011

BMW UK Ltd, the top-selling premium marque in the UK, sold its two-millionth vehicle -- a BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo -- last September. About 31 years have passed since it sold its first vehicle, a E12 5 Series Saloon, on January 1, 1980. The buyer of the milestone two-millionth car is Ken Haynes, from Wolverhampton.

He said that the BMW 530d Gran Turismo is “the perfect car” for him because of its space, versatility and high standard specification. According to Steve Mills, Dealer Principal at Benham BMW, Haynes is the “sort of person” who would want to own a BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo.

Haynes used to drive a Mercedes and a Volkswagen Phaeton before switching to BMW. Haynes also owns a MINI Countryman. The BMW 5 Series range is one of the BMW’s most popular cars ever, with worldwide sales of 5,839,866 units since it was launched.

The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is targeted at the discerning buyer with an eye for anything unique. The model was presented in the UK towards the end of 2009. Since then, almost 2,500 models have been sold. The 530d GT has proven to be the most popular.

BMW is entering a new segment in the car market with the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo. The new car brings together elegance, comfort, flexibility and space in a way that has not been seen before. It is a future addition to the BMW 5-Series, and gives you all the things that you have come to love in a prestige car, a versatile sports activity vehicle and the classic Gran Turismo.

The body design of 5-Series Gran Turismo features elegantly stretched silhouettes, a roofline that resembles those of a coupe, frameless windows and the typical proportions of a BMW to come up with a harmonious and complete unit. Looking at the car from the front you could see the dynamism afforded by the upright kidney grille, twin round slanted headlights, and the big air intakes. What’s unique here is the daytime driving light that are provided by the LED technology in the corona rings. Meanwhile, the rear end has those crisp horizontal lines that give the back a wider and more powerful look. This is further highlighted by the L-shaped rear lamp clusters with the rows of LED lights.

The generous space and flexibility of the interior give the passenger and the driver a feeling of well-being and comfort. This is made even more felt by the comfortable entry and exit of the car, the big window areas, and the slightly elevated seats. All of the elements you see inside the car are made of high quality materials and feature top quality finish. You can also opt for the panorama glass roof.
